Can I add - it's always good to have a physically separate backup to protect against an encrypting virus. Any drive that is permanently attached to your machine could be affected. Any other suggestions?

I use one of these for convenience - works on PC and laptop drives. I also have a set of these for keeping the drives safe while stored.
You should describe what is in your links. I wouldn't call that a 'drive mount'.
The first one is a SATA drive docking station, and the second one is simply 5 boxes (?) to put hard drives into. You've spent £40 on all that kit.

The docking station will work with the computer exactly the same way as that wasteful enclosure you're talking about. It's not inside the computer (I really hope not!) and has cost you more money, not less. It's handy for swapping loads of drives, and takes desktop and laptop drives - I've got a similar one. I still think a simple external drive is the better, and cheaper, option for most people.

You've got a system that works for you, and you're keeping your backup drives safe, fair play.

s2016 - ignore us geeks debating, and have a look at the external drives I linked to. If it's a laptop you're backing up, you'll likely want the 'portable' drives rather than the 'desktop' ones. The portable ones get their power over USB, desktop ones need power from the wall.

You'll have an issue though if your computer is full. You need to get rid of stuff off it, upgrade the drive, or upgrade the computer.

Blimey, it took them a year to sort it out?

I was joking - your previous post was in October 2016 - that's all. Glad to hear the Group has found a good recovery retailer.
