Tell them you want the car gone tomorrow - when I asked them to take their car away they said they wouldnt be able to take it for a afew days, when I insisted they came the following day. And if they do come say tomorrow they will keep you waiting and waiting... They charge the 3rd party insurers per day even if you have asked for it to be removed!! They are also open until very late so do not wait, call them NOW and get rid of it!!
I tried but they said due to Xmas holidays they wont be able to do it and also said they not going to charge for extra days and already cancelled my insurance yesterday. When i said that i will deliver it myself but i cant as dont have insurance cover on it.
I did informed other party insurance that i cancelled it yesterday as I am not allowed to keep two replacement cards at same time. DA told me that they not going charge me for extra days!!!!!!! I called back again after your quote and said cannot keep it as I am going away tomorrow for one week and cannot leave it on driveway like that. Finally agreed to pick it up tomo. Finger crossed. Thanks for advice Karena.0 -
Insist you check the car over with the driver so you can query any damage they "find"0

Also make sure that the fuel entry is correct. Good luck!0

Ok they came yesterday to pick up my car. Talk to me very nicely. Like that kept the car clean inside and outside and no scratch and signed for report.
Checked my email and recd car report saying that car interior n exterior was dirty. 5 marks on the car. I am not sure what going to happen next. When i signed it was saying that it didnt sastsin any marks in my possesion and i am not responsiable to any damage in future. Any advice0 -
They normally send you a bill for between £150 and £200, have a read of the rest of this thread and the other threads on mse and other websites about the Drive Assist "Modus Operandi"0

Drive assist are in my opinion "scum" who simply take an opportunistic way to make money from other people's misfortune. They fabricate/invent damage after the event, and it takes a lot of work to fight them.
Unfortunately many insurance companies use them - Zurich, Direct Line, RAC, and all of these insurance companies say that they have no complaints relayed to them regarding the conduct of Drive assist.0 -
What happened with this, as I am in a similar position. They are talking about reclaiming the cost of the hire vehicle from me as the insurance company concerned won't pay up for some reason. I was not at fault and the other party claimed responsibility, and that was almost a year ago.Hi All
Someone drove into the back of my wife's car and is fully responsible. Directline then passed me onto Drive assist for a rental car while her car was in for repairs. They are delivering it on Tuesday. I have had this rental car for 2 weeks for £47 a day which will work out about £1000 which I do not have. I have by accident came across loads of threads about this company. My concern is that if the 3rd party refuses to pay the car credit agreement, what are my rights and what should I do if they want to get the outstanding balance with me. I have fully comp with directline as well as Legal protection. Can I use my Directline excess for this?0 -
What happened with this as I am in exactly the same position?hey my problem is similar to everyone else but still some advice would really be appreciatedd
last november my dad was parked outside of his workplace in a private car park when someone reversed into his car...the other driver claimed full liability and informed his insurance company. This insurance company put Drive Assist in touch with my dad where he was told that his car would be sent to an approved bodyshop and he would recieve a courtesy car, my dad told his insurance company what was happening and all seemed ok. so the courtesy car turned up and everything was going ok, except repairs were taking longer than expected (2 weeks total just to replace a rear wing), the courtesy car went back and all seemed over untill today (July, 7 months after the courtesy car was returned!!!) when my dad recieved a phone call from drive assist saying that they were having to take the other party's insurance company to county court as they were having trouble recovering costs and that it may end up that my dad will have to pay for 2 weeks of a courtesy car which he could have easily done without and only had as was under the impression that the other party's insurance company was paying....it all seems slightly well planned that the insurance company who put forward drive assist now won't pay and that basic repairs took such a long time (and in a garage 20 miles away when there were much closer places!)
does my dad have any ground to stand on or can they just do this??? at the moment his opinion is that he should go and set fire to the bloke that reversed into his car, but there much be a more productive option available...if not this is going to be very costly, much more than my dad's car was worth in the first place.0 -
Ok so have seen this thread on the beast that is Drive Assist. The usual scenario, I was NOT at fault in an accident, the other party claimed responsibility. DA contacted me about courtesy car. I signed a digital pad on delivery of the car with no explanation about what it was, but in fact was a credit hire agreement. I got payed by insurance company ok. Sent back courtesy car to DA and next thing 10 months later, they call me to say insurance company won't pay for car hire and, by the way you signed a credit hire so you may be liable, which actually comes to about 2k!
OK experienced people out there, who have come up against this obvious scam, what can I throw back at these crooks?0 -

Hi Racerman, your first call should be to YOUR insurance company, to tell them exactly what Drive Assist are telling you. If the other side have admitted liability, then they simply cannot turn around and deny it months later. Did you ever get written confirmation from your insurance company, that the other side admitted liability?
Do this immediately and then get back to us.0
