A bathroom can cost whatever you want it to, it depends what you're looking for. If you just want a toilet, basin, bath and shower with a few tiles around the bath you can do it cheaply.0

Just had our bathroom "refurbished"
Its 2m x 3m. We had new flooring and some shower panelling fitted (about 3 meters worth)
Materials came in at £400 and labour was £900
Took 3 guys two and a half days.
Remember, the room was already tiled, we've kept the same bathroom suite and taps etc0 -
Do you guys think it's worth getting a designer? Also, we are look to combine the bath and the shower. Currently they are separate. Are there any cons you can think of about doing this? Also, would it be a massive issue that we may be moving the bath to a new position?0

With 2.5k you'll be lucky to get a bog standard suite and tiles fitted by a handymanHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

Well, I went to B&Q and they quoted £8,000 and asked is that was something I would like to go ahead with. I let them know that it was more than twice my budget. However, they mentioned that for the tiles and all the fittings I could get something for well within £3k but I won't get the fitting.
So, it cost £4,000 plus for B&Q to fit something?!0 -

Yes, and it is pot luck how good the fitters will be so you might be left with a complete mess.0 -
You'll probably get a much better price from a local independent fitter than B&Q.0

We used local independent company who designed a complete refit, including rearranging the layout, and thanks to our quirky house, two hours to drill through for new extract and redoing the ceiling having taken it down to get at the wiring- crawl space too small.
We spent just over 5k.
Which was bath, basin, vanity, shower, shower screen and tanking out for 'wet room' area, heated towel rail (plumbed into CH plus electric element), floor tiling, fitting lights and wall tiling.
All done in a week- one main guy plus electricians and helper0 -
I recently did mine as cheaply as I could and probably got under that figure.
Bathroom suite from eBay £430, stand alone shower and radiator also from there (but all new). Tiles from Victorian plumbing £8 per square meter almost the cheapest they had! Mosaic tiles from eBay. Tiles it myself, people were wanting to charge £20-40psm, and actually it wasn't as hard as I imagined, I'm really pleased with it since I'm a single mum who's never tiles before. Bathroom fitter charged £350 but he cracked a couple of tiles so maybe he wasn't the best!! [IMG][/img]
