    Thank Weston Dave, I can confirm that after another phone call to Tesco, you were correct.
    The reason for another call to tesco? - the copy of the order had some serious price changes to the original prices of the original substitution items - 24.00 became 39.96, and 50.04 - no way has cat food ever cost me 8.34 a box!
    anyway lady on the phone straight away confirmed that the price shown on the sub. items is after discounts. So now i know!!

    Bonus 5.00 good will voucher for having to ring up so many times, when first guy should have been able to tell me.
    Missing my money saving mojo. :o
