Bottom of your second image says page 1 of 4, the first image is clearly the third page judging by the position of the bleed through image. So what is on the back of page 1 - your second image?Adventure before Dementia!0

thanks glen,
Ive never given it a thought before, and it was only as i was adding it to a spreadsheet that i even discovered it.
I've never checked them in the past - well - not to see if they add up, just to check we've got everything we ordered.Missing my money saving mojo.

Hi Weston, the first image is page two, i'd just cut the bottom off to make the image smaller before i got pointed in the direction of using the tiny url thingie, page 3 just has the tesco logo on it, and page 4 is completly blank - apart from saying page 4/4 on it -( waste of paper to me. )Missing my money saving mojo.

The only other thing I can think of without knowing the ins and outs of all the items is that somehow the front page shows the discounted price of the substitute items with the discounts also showing in the multi buys in the discounts so that they've added them back to the top price to take them off again if that makes sense.

Hi WestonDave,
I think i get what you mean - and did wonder this originally, but the price of the substitutions tallys with the full amount of those items in the 'your shopping' bit, both in quantity and original priceMissing my money saving mojo.

OK think I may be getting to something.
If you take the second substitution they've given you mixed pouches in jelly. These are currently £3.65 or 2 for £5. So on the quantity you've got (6) you should have been charged for £21.90 and then take off the £6.90 shown in the discounts bit to get the £15. That is what happens with the other offers that are shown at full price of £4 each and then discounted down to the 3 for £10 offer.
So if we follow the same pattern with the other sub, they should show as 6 at £4 equalling £24 and then take that down on the 3 for £10 in the discounts.
£4 plus £6.90 equals £10.90 which I think is your discrepancy. So on that basis its a bit of a grey area - arguably you've accepted the substitutes at their price at the top and can't necessarily expect further discounts even though their discount schedule shows them.
I'd go back and argue that their way of presenting it is misleading and see if you can wangle anything.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
ok,
I think i can see where you are coming from.
Im glad someone could work it out, as no one in the store or the customer help line could work it out.
if that is how its worked out - its a rubbish way of presenting it, as it still gives the impression that everything in the 'your shopping' bit should add up to the pre-promotions total.
Also, just occurred to me - if this is the case - why are the substitution prices for the original items at full price before the offer - if the substitution items are shown with the price post offer??
All the cat food ordered was on 3 for 10 offer.
think i will def be trying to wrangle somethingMissing my money saving mojo.

Well spotted, WestonDave.
It would be clearer if the items in the Your Shopping section were listed as full price and then the discount taken off at the end.
But I can see why they wouldn't have done this. Sometimes with substitutions you end up paying less than the price should have been because it has matched what you ordered. In which case any price other than the actual selling price would be meaningless.
And obviously they wouldn't do the substitution matching before doing the promotion because otherwise you might end up saving loads.
I think if it were me, I'd list everything at the price it scans through as and then add the substitution savings (in this case nothing) into the promotion savings, in the same way they do with the Brand Guarantee.0
