Well done on getting the cruise booked. I’ve got brochures but not even opened them yet because i could guarantee I’d set my heart on a particular one and my op would be during those exact dates :eek:once it’s over I’ll get myself sorted

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Thanks everyone!

I didn't realise our firm was in the minority of the NI pension savings rebate redo, but it is pretty generous with its benefits.

END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 4 – MARCH

Yesterday was the end of Scrimpy Week 4. I've ended up with a debit at the end of this week for Ad Spends - -£19.82 in fact!:(

This was mainly due to the fact that I spent £45 in taxi fares yesterday to get to and from to DSis's OH's birthday lunch venue! Still it was a lovely day – there were 23 in total including children. DSis had booked a private room so it didn't matter too much if the kids made a lot of noise. The room looked lovely – she booked a "flower wall" of white faux roses (looked real) that we had to stand in front of to have our photos taken – it was like being on the red carpet – but DSis doesn’t do things by half! She had also booked a big electric lit number "50" and what looked like the old fashioned elecrtric lit billboard you used to see outside cinemas to advertise the films This wished OH a happy 50th! The food was really nice too and everyone had a great time.

    SCRIMPY WEEK ONE – APRIL

Pay day today and I've worked out all the budget pots for the month.

I'm away at DD's this weekend but have already bought my train ticket. I have £100 Ad Hoc spend this week and will definitely try to end up with some savings at the end of the week but as I'm away I'll have to see how it goes.

I put a 1lb on when I weighed myself today, but seeing how much I ate and drank yesterday, I'm not surprised! I'm really going to try and knuckle under this week – or at least till I get to DD's on Friday night!:D

The birthday lunch sounded very well organised and the room must have been lovely with the flowers.

The taxis were a cost but little else you can do if you needed to get there and back.

I think we may be in the same county over the weekend. I am heading to the North Yorkshire Coast to see my friends .

Have a good week and weekend with DD.

Sounds like the birthday party was a great success. Taxi fares are so expensive but needs must from time to time.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Sounds like a lovely party, and much nicer for everyone if you don't have to worry about the children. My pair always managed to be filthy within five minutes of arriving anywhere, including infamously sliding down a grass verge onto some gravel on the way into a wedding that took the knee out of one pair of suit trousers, and transforming the other three knees into a fetching shade of green.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and your kind comments.

Cumbria – I will indeed be in the same county as you at the weekend – and in one of my favourite (small) cities in the UK. I hope you enjoy your time with your friends and breathe in some bracing sea air!

Redo- your tale about your boys was very funny! My little nephew sounds rather like them. He's five now, can't sit still for long and always seems to gravitate to little boys just like him! Because the weather was so warm on Sunday there was a time when all the children were playing outside the venue and you could hear his voice yelling above all the others! He managed to stay reasonably clean this time around, but was caught by DSis at one point running around without any shoes or socks on!:rotfl:

Ad hoc spends since Monday have been £5.10 for lunchtime coffees. I need to buy a birthday card on the way home tonight and I have my (budgeted) nail appointment this evening.

PPI Update: I'm still waiting to hear about the two old loans from the provider. They did confirm that I would hear from them by 27 March. So, if there's nothing lying on the doormat when I get home this evening they will be getting a phone call tomorrow!

Fingers and toes crossed for a ppi pay out.
Your nephew sounds a bundle of fun. My 2 gdds are so different - the elder sister is full of fun but loves nothing better than taking herself off with a book/drawing or jigsaw and has done this since being tiny whereas the younger one gives herself away with a mischievous glint in her eye as she plans her next move :rotfl: I suspect they’ll never be a dull moment as they grow-up.
