Why has this house not sold?

I'm afraid I don't find it very attractive and for that price would expect a decent garden area. It looks like a converted workplace, rather than an attractive cottage.
Google Street shows boarded up doorways and a builder's skip, so has it been done up to sell ? if this is the case, the work could be a cover up of lower standard than that someone would have done for their own home.
As has been said the door opens onto a road, so poses a danger for children and pets and the rear has a poor view of other houses which are on higher ground and so overlook , leaving no privacy.0 -
err... streetview image date is May 2009, so I rather think the skip and work is long gone. Must say however I did wonder that myself which is why I checked the image date.Google Street shows boarded up doorways and a builder's skip, so has it been done up to sell ? if this is the case, the work could be a cover up of lower standard than that someone would have done for their own home.
I think the "contemporary" styling is too strong for a conversion which now has no character at all other than city centre "modernity" living which doubtless would be a comfort zone to some niche holiday makers and second home owners but must surely restrict the market ... oh yes, it hasn't sold yet has it !
yes it fronts a road, but that road is a dead end and the google streetview car stopped just after the viaduct as that is where the road ceases to be "public" as there are only 2 houses beyond it. Doubtless you'd get thundering tractors passing by the house at times, but I doubt it is "busy"
al in all though it does look overpriced for someone's idea of London living transplanted to the countryside for a London price0 -
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-54610624.html This one is bigger and it is cheaper.0

It looks wonderful to me.., most unlike a bus station lol. The garden is fine, because its sunken, it IS private - and probably quiet.
I should imagine that perhaps the price is high for the area, and perhaps the decoration is a bit modern for some.., although I'd love it. Nice airy kitchen, lots of space.., wonderful property.0 -
The seriously horrible kitchen would kill it for meYou can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0

i think it looks gorgeous. probably just over-priced for the area. jeez, you guys who are complaining have obviously not looked at some of the dumps in london that are passed off as property.0

The ceilings look low to me.0

Not generally a fan of barn conversions; they tend to be open plan with modern decor, which isn't to my taste. Also they always have ceiling spotlights, which I think give poor light as well as being likely to look horribly dated in a few years.
It's a rural property with modern decor that's near a road and an industrial site and doesn't have much land, so you're getting neither country peace nor country character. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
Internet at just 1 meg would put lots of people off.0

Why hasn't it sold? Probably because not many houses are selling at the moment.
The market is dead at the moment in a lot of places.0
