Why has this house not sold?

I am looking at this house:
http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/36956348?utm_source=homesco&utm_medium=network&utm_campaign=aggregator#PZ8r5mlfJLvpfaVX.97
It's been on the market for nearly 18 months and price has come down.
Background is that we want to buy a second home near the lake district but not too near to avoid a. Lake district prices and b. Lake district crowds.
Any observations?

Hi
I know nothing about the area and house prices there. Some of the rooms look quite dark.0 -

Well you'd certainly get a big SDLT bill if you bought that place!0 -
I would say too expensive for a village with no shops. No garden at the back the garden is at the side of the property so no privacy. There is a stream runs right behind it so I am not sure about insurance. At the front it is right on the road.
It isn't where it is marked to be on the map provided and there is street view of it. The road goes right past the front door. There is also some sort of haulage firm based in that village as you can see the lorries in the yard.0 -
Agree with the poster above. It's a BEAUTIFUL property, but I am guessing the price is too much for some. And possibly the other reasons cakeguts mentioned. More likely the price though.
When a property isn't selling, it's often because of the price.
My hubby's aunt recently sold a cottage in the south west, that she put on the market for about 2 or 3% below the market value, and it was a few 1000 cheaper than one up the road that was virtually the same. It was on a B road, with 15-20 forty ton trucks rolling by every hour, just 10 feet from her front window, (plus 100s of other vehicles.) Also the back-end of a warehouse was only 12 feet from her kitchen window, and her garden was the size of a postage stamp.
However it was immaculate inside, new doors and windows, new kitchen, and a new conservatory, and it was a 2 minute walk from the bus stop, and the train station was 10 minutes walk, and it has a straight through train into London that gets there in about 2 hours. And it was close to 2 or 3 dozen shops/pubs/takeaways etc...
So a young professional couple snapped it up! It went within a DAY of going on the internet. The Estate Agent had not even put the sign up yet!
So even though it was in a position that I would never have considered, it sold quickly, because it was cheap, and had lots of amenities.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!

Use the map and hybrid option so you can see the satellite view, it seems uncomfortably close to some kind of industrial unit and it reminds me of a report I saw on TV where a similar became an abattoir and in one move devastated the housing market, who want to hear sheep and cattle screaming at night along with a stench! I am very, very wary of sites that can be re-developed into alternatives. And that's what would stop me buying it, though it it a lovely lookinig house.0

It's a lovely house, maybe nicer than others but if you click on 'area stats' the prices of others that have sold are a lot lower.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Looks ok to me - don't know about the price though ... maybe worthwhile trying a 'silly' offer though .... :j
Unfortunately for me, my offer would by necessity be beyond silly as I don't have that kind of money spare .. otherwise ...:mad:0 -

Whilst i accept an abattoir might put some off i think that's a bit melodramatic!
Besides which it's the countryside. There is a stench most days!0 -

....... and because the couple buying but had no clue about the lorries ?
Or perhaps they decided the lorries were 9-5 weekdays and they were out at these times ?0
