  • I have DEVOLO dLAN 1200+ . One is upstairs and one is downstairs. Both are on different wiring circuits but come from the same fusebox. They will happily talk to each other. Once in a blue moon, I get a dropout. Not enough to cause a nuisance.
  • I use the BT Branded ones, I have 3 in the house all work well. Every now and then I need to turn them off and back on, sometimes the plugs get heavy and start slipping out the plug sockets, this can cause a couple of issues.
  • I have found that they wont work if you have an outbuilding supplied by armoured cable even when it is from the same consumer unit. I wonder if its's because the metal armour wires are earthed.
  • I bought a pair of AV500s from Amazon for less than £30.
It was harder to open the box than do the setup ;)

I have the TP-Link pair (PA411) ... main one is downstairs plugged into the downstairs ring and connected to the router; other one is upstairs plugged into a non-filtered extension cable (which is plugged into the upstairs ring) and connected to my laptop. Both rings connected back via their own circuit breakers to the consumer unit.

I rarely have problems. Once in a while the laptop comms show no interent - I simply unplug the RJ45 connector from the laptop for 20 seconds, plug it back in and all is OK.
  • I have TP Link power line adapters all over the house for non-portable devices and additional WiFi access points and they rarely throw up any problems. In fact I can't remember the last time I had to reset them. They're reasonably fast too.

What kind of actual transfer speed do you all get through the Powerline Adapters?.

I have a wired network and when transferring large files i constantly get 112 MBps so a 900 Mbit connection on a Gigabit Ethernet Network. Are Gigabit Powerline adaptors anywhere near to this?

I never do this so I can't say.

I don't have to use the adaptors (could use WiFi), they're just going spare so I thought I'd use them. :)

    I agree with jshm2
    Plug and Play
    1. Plug one Internet connected adapter into a nearby power outlet. 2. Connect additional adapters to PCs/laptops/Internet TVs or other networked devices via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi - and you're done! *Recommended: Press the pair buttons for network security and data encryption. Note: Powerline adapters should be deployed on the same circuit and in set of two or more.

You are wrong and seem to have difficulty accepting that several other posters have proved that jshm2 who you agree with is wrong and has posted rubbish in this thread and other threads!

Don't accept everything that you read on the net as fact.

    :p

I have used TP-Link powerline adapters over an armoured underground cable with no problems. The earth has no effect on the modulated signal on the mains wiring.
  • Mine are TP-Link but just don't work over 40M of armoured cable.
