kids pass membership cancellation

 I agree I am disgusted with them. I cancelled my membership through my phone app, it actually showed on my phone as no longer active, but they still took money out of my account. I don't think their app works correctly as it seems a number of people have had the same problem, but when you contact them they will accept no blame.
If I had known the app cancellation did not work, I would have rang them to cancel, I cannot afford to chuck £39.99 away on something I never used. Great way to get something out of people for nothing in return, why didn't I think of it, I wonder a few more Morales maybe.
I agree the £1 is a scam and if anyone has any sense (which I obviously lacked) they will not sign up to it.
Did you get an email confirmation of cancellation?

Hi Martye
Thank you so much for posting this. I have had a very unhelpful conversation with customer services who told me to email accounts. I left the call shaking with anger trying to hold it together. They really don't care at all do they!
I am waiting a response from accounts but based on everyone else's comments I'm not holding up much hope. If they refuse then I will respond using your suggested terminology and try again.
What gets me is they advertise themselves as a company out to help people save money so obviously the people using the service are not going to have much spare cash so the snakey way that they go about the membership is disgusting. If I had been charged the £1.99 they offer you to pay monthly I would have said oh well I forgot to cancel and I deserve a months punishment but a years worth is ridiculous! For anyone that lapsed their trial membership and was charged, please read below for how to claim ALL your money back.
I did exactly the same, and found many people on these type of forums who have not been able to claim any money back. I did some research and identified that their practices appeared to be in breach of a consumer protection act as suggested by one of the replies in this post. I sent them a complaint letter as required in their T&C's including the below text. A few days later I received an email confirming a full refund would be provided and I received £39.99 in my bank account 2 days later. Please feel free to use this same terminology, and hopefully they will begin to change their practices, to start sending reminder emails, and including the trail expiry date in their initial welcome email.
"Your trading practices are in direct breach of the Act for Consumer Protection for Unfair Trading Regulations (2008) for not making the trial end date clear in the initial email communication (see attached initial email without any dates specified), for not stipulating precisely when the cooling off period commences and for not sending notification emails as the trial end period approaches. All of these constitute misleading commercial practice which is covered by the Unfair Commercial Practice Directive. This Act enables consumer redress by way of a refund in the Right to undo the contract within 90 days that the services commenced"0 -
Totally agree with this later point - MSE it's got to the point where so many people (admittedly through our own tardiness) have got stung that maybe you should stop promoting them as money saving?
You can't blame MSE for other people failing to cancel within 14 days.
How hard is it to set up a reminder to cancel in a phone calendar or even on a calendar...
Time people took responsibility for their own inaction's and failure to do a simple thing. Everybody wants something for nothing....Life in the slow lane0 -

I have this problem. I cancelled mine back in september but they took money 2 days ago. They are claiming I cancelled a different email address which I had an account with last year and cancelled last year. When I try to cancel the current one it tells me it has already been cancelled and I have not logged in for a month so it must have been when I said! They will not accept it and now I have entered into an argument over email as I cannot afford to wait 14 days or so for their complaints, with mo guarantee! So annoyed as that was my money for rent and I know I am right! Problem is I cannot get into my email address registered with them to check if I have email proof!0

I now have this problem too. I cancelled at what I thought was the right time, had offers to stay etc but nope. £39.99 gone out of my account this morning. Typed up an email with the paragraph from above aswell but they're not budging. Do I send a letter in the post to them aswell or not bother?0

Did you cancel at the right time or not?
Could try sending a LBA if you are willing to go to court and state your case.0 -
I have dipped in and out of various trials with Kids Pass and never had a problem cancelling.0
