About the only reason I can see is Bitlocker.
I'm guessing that since the 6330 is a business model it will have a pro licence.

If the op is intending to go to Win 10 then the pro version will do the trick as that will upgrade to Win 10 pro that will have Bitlocker.

Unless you are deeply into computers, Ultimate doesn't give you anything that pro doesn't give you.

Just something else to consider, do you or your husband need Windows for a particular program?
I ask because you can very easily install a linux distro. I use linux mint which is free (open-source) and has long term support. It is a very simple learning curve from Windows 7 and uses less computer resources.

Being especially nice, I would respectfully submit that your Linux post is totally off topic in a post about Windows 7.

Thanks, Zeitgeist. Although the link you gave me blew my brain a bit and I was secretly pleased when FunTime advised it was the wrong link ;)

Thanks, unforeseen. We definitely aren't going down the road of Windows 10 at this point in time. I have to confess I've no idea what Bitlocker is :embarasse

It's a long story, but he currently has a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate installed and we want to get a valid licence key for it rather than having to reinstall software, drivers etc.

Yes, but you don't need them if you aren't going to run a clean install.

    You have a reply.
