If you put an ice cube on the flattened bit of carpet, leave it overnight to melt and then the following morning run your vacuum over it, that should solve the problem. If not, you may need to brush the carpet pile back up, but should come back after a little effort.

As other posters have said, none of these issues are going to be solved by the vendor as they're very minor. A new fence panel isn't expensive. If I were you I'd focus on the positives of the home you've just bought and enjoy it.

Even if they were major they wouldn't be fixed unless the vendor lied on the property disclosure form.

Vendor needs to have a chat with mum and dad about carpets and probably the birds and bees as well. . Assuming we haven't all been had, which I'm fully prepared to believe we have been.

Best thing is the "sarcasm" picture. That's ones a keeper.
  • On a serious note...our EA provided us with address details and contact telephone numbers of our sellers and buyers. Is that the norm? I was quite shocked to be honest.

To the OP: You have a very valid point. Id get it straight on the market....leave ASAP...nobody should live with a wonky fence and dented carpets.
  • Have you had that electrician check out the electrics after you complete in case you want to back out?

I wouldn't know how to cope. So distressing and mortifying.

I mean, how would you live...?
  • Last house I bought, there was a list of stuff, that my wife insisted I fix before she would let anyone live there. It took 7 days of solid graft, before I was able to advertise it for rent, and then another 3 days on other stuff after we found a tenant, before they moved in. Then I had to visit 3 times in the first 3 weeks they were there to fix other stuff that we hadn't spotted.
That after a Full Survey, and an electrical check.

I'd try not to involve professionals in things like that, because they tend to try to convince you that you need a rewire, and that would mean complete redecoration of every room after they leave.

Best to put head in sand and get a smoke alarm or three.
  • This is almost certainly a wind up. No one could possibly believe someone could be sued over furniture dents in the carpet.

    No one.

Who told you that? Whoever it was they're not very bright.

Nor is the outside light. Sounds like a match.com advert if ever I heard one.;)

Never watched Big Bang Theory, then?

It's not just a picture, it's a whole scene and a running gag for pretty much the whole season thereafter....

Clearly some precious flower was. Worst case is it's not a wind up.
