So British Gas have had my meter readings 4 times now
Once over the phone then from an email they sent and now 2 from the app I then get an email saying they have my readings but they quote the wrong reading they have the gas and electric as the same reading what is going on here wished I had not bothered now
They cannot seem to keep me happy and get it right as I'm trying to join them so what's my chances once I am a customer?????
Can I cancel the switch or would I have to pay the leaving fees now
Very dissapointing0 -

You've had my gas+elec readings 5 (five) times.
My final elec reading is correct, but my final gas reading, given at exactly the same times, is incorrect and estimated.
How is it possible that one reading is late, when both readings were given at the same time, and immediately after they were requested ?
I am in the same boat as many people on here switching to the collective MSE/BG fix. Have given my starting readings, and confirmed that they have them by phone, but still get the emails and website prompts for readings. Haven't seen a final bill from the losing supplier (EDF) yet, but won't be at all surprised to see estimates being used.
Have switched many times, usually to suppliers with reasonable reputations. "Gambled" going to OVO when they were pretty new, but it all went well. Thought I'd be safe with BG - got that wrong it seems!
I guess MSE can see it's damaging their Cheap Energy Club reputation as well. I ignored their emails saying I could save by switching to one of the suppliers with a very dubious reputation, but figured BG could be worth it once I calculated the real "savings" involved. What a shambles from British Gas.
Electricity transferred on 6 Oct - brilliant
Gas has moved from the 6th to 10th to 18th to 25th Oct and now its 8th Nov
I am not convinced it will happen,
MSE - please negotiate a Collective Discount that is applied to all the late transfers and have this automatically credited to our BG accounts, to cover the inconvenience, additional calls and my wasted time trying to sort this out.
Suggest £2 a day multiplied by (actual start date - original start date) so in my case
30 days late x £2 per day is £600 -
BG may have had your starting readings 5 times, but it doesn't mean they've passed them both on to E.On for your final bill with them.

In a similar position here, I telephoned EdF and they had received but weren't happy with the readings passed to them by BG. I asked them what values they'd been passed and confirmed that they were OK - pointing out to them that a low gas reading in October relative to last July was quite likely - and within a couple of days they'd made out a final bill and credited the balance of the account back into my bank account.
Worth a try?0 -
I have tried to switch from Ovo to BGas for this cheap fixed rate. BGas couldn't process my opening meter readings which I submitted via online account, mobile app and using their telephone number. Despite all efforts and an
assurance from a BGas agent, I continued to receive emails advising they had been unable to process my opening readings and I should resubmit.
I have finally given up and this morning renewed with Ovo. I shall have to pay £20 per fuel to BGas to exit.....but, it's worth it to avoid a full year of service/technology problems. 😣0 -
Well, following on from my previous posts...as of last night, the BG website seems to have almost sorted itself out.
I say almost, because my gas reading is estimated/incorrect, but at least there are SOME readings on the website, instead of the spinning circle of doom.
Even though it is the same reading they have given to Eon (so i'm not being double charged), it is still estimated/incorrect, even though they've had the correct reading, 5 times over the past month.
I wonder if they will correct it sometime soon ??0 -
I have a slightly different and minor issue.
My switch to the Oct 2017 collective went through seamlessly and I have already had a correct bill from BG.
The Cheap Energy Club still shows me to be on my old tariff and as having applied for the Oct 2017 tariff.
However it still used my old tariff costs as the basis for any projected savings on another tariff.0 -

Hello Danceswithhorses
As I mentioned yesterday, with a change of supplier, opening/closing meter readings are checked by third parties (Data Management). Often, the Data Managers checking the electricity and gas are different. If they are, readings will come through separately
Even if you've given readings to both suppliers, until verified by the Data Managers, they can't be used. This happens via a series of electronic messages. With estimated closing readings, we'll automatically rebill once we receive an actual reading from the new supplier via this messaging.
Hope this explains.

I had to intervene big time to avoid a massive electricity bill. My gas moved over very quickly and was all correct on both sides, however the electricity had still not moved. Rang up yesterday (again!) to see what was going on and it seems to have only just gone into "install new device" status that day (coincidence?). Anyway rechecked with OVO and they said the final reading had not come through and they had not been ask to send the meter id info.
Anyway by the evening, OVO had issued a final statement of the Electricity using an older reading (even though the had the right reading for the change over day) and finalized my account. Also things started working on the BG side except they were using an estimated opening reading (not the one I'd given them) which overlapped with OVO's significantly, so I was double paying.
Got another BG operative to replace the estimated reading with the figure OVO used and thought all was OK. However when I checked the reading history, BG had posted my 26th October readings as if they were entered on the 28th so that value was now less than the 26th reading giving a opening bill of around £17500 (it assumed metered overturn had occurred)
Called up BG again, and by a fluke, I managed to get on to the first guy I was taking to a couple of days ago (he remembered me), who was great, he killed both bills and deleted all but the opening readings, took a new set of readings and set the bill to re-generate in the middle of the month.
So all set! BG sort your IT and processes out!MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

My/our gripes are with BG, not you, so nothing personal my friend.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply.0
