You can line your curtains with fleece blankets, they shouldn't add too much weight and are cheap enough, some folded up on the window sill will help with insulation, i second the prepping for winter thread: it won't let me link it

I'll PM you.
Thank you everybody for your suggestions-Asda don't go up big enough on bottoms for me-tops are OK but I'm bottom heavy.

I don't want to start using the heating until October. So..what can I do? It's a rented house and the attic doesn't have any insulation so you really feel the cold especially at night when the temp drops. I am going to have to start using the dehumidifier again soon which does warm the room it's in a bit, but that's just because of the damp in that room.
I don't have any spare money for thicker curtains and quite honestly I think the curtain poles would come out of the walls if I tried.
I'm planning to dig the hot water bottles out soon. And put extra blankets on the beds. What else can I do?
I am a cold person myself. One of my best investments was in thermal vests and leggings from Primark, I bought a load at £2 each and they keep me nice and toasty under my usual clothing.

It's 17c here at the moment, predicted to be 26c this afternoon.
I was too hot last night. LOL. I can't win can I? I suspect it's more to do with fibromyalgia than the actual temperature outside.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Though to be fair the weather has no idea what season it's supposed to be at the moment. Says she steaming at a desk in Manchester, and yearning for the rain we had yesterday.
Layer like there's a pea somewhere - the livestock are unlikely to object and you can chuck layers off if you have to, whereas a hot brick is a more awkward proposition.0 -
might be worth keep checking the asda website, last year they had bigger sizes in now and then..bigger than they have in at the moment. I bought one of the fleece PJ tops and some bottoms for a friend both size 28 she said they were very roomy. Maybe email asda to ask if they'll be getting bigger sizes in. x0

Oh I absolutely ditto everything that's been said above, it really comes down to how many layers you'd like and what sort you'd like them to be. For me, I like the layers to be on me as I'm a very cold person, but I know friends of mine prefer the layers on the bed with blankets as they heat up pretty quick once they're in bed and like to kick off the layers.
My recipe for keeping toasty when I'm staying in my room when the heat isn't on is:
Knee socks,
Cuffed PJ bottoms,
Fluffy socks,
Long sleeve PJ top tucked into the bottoms,
A fleecey/furry style top (like the one apple-shaped posted above!)
All the tucking in and layering over the cuffs stops any drafts of cold air getting in!!
And then if I'm still chilly, I may skip the fleece top and go straight for a onesie on top of all that - I like the furry ones from Primark, the fleece ones are lovely but I find they're not quite toasty enough for me - plus the furry ones tend to be a bit baggier so depending on the size you may not find your too constricted while you turn in your sleep!
All that and a hot water bottle if the bed is freezing, I find if my feet are warm then the rest of me heats up. Cold feed = no sleep!! :rotfl:I am the shoreline, but you're the sea... :heartsmil0
