It was 24c in my sitting room this morning and I live in the south Medway part of Kent. Think I'll notice the difference this wekend as I am flying up to Aberdeen on Friday morning for a few days

P,S, if you are really feeling the cold put a blanket/ thin duvet under your main sheet that you lie on that should keep you warm in bed, and layer up and wear bedsocks and a wooly 'beanie' hat in bed .
Unless you are lucky enough to have a handsome hunk to keep you warm in which case ignore the last few instruction:):)

Wow! I haven't even considered any form of heating yet and won't do until around November.
I'm still sleeping in the flimsiest pjs on top of my duvet with the fan on and window wide open!0 -
I sympathise as I too feel the cold very quickly. This morning was the first nippy one of the autumn but it has soon warmed up outside. I deliberately chose a modern, well-insulated house and haven't regretted it for a moment. Warmth over character every time! I have an electric blanket, then a fleece on the mattress followed by a tightly fitted flannalette sheet, then a normal poly cotton and a duvet. Last winter I went right through using the 4 tog summer duvet but often used the electric blanket and occasionally threw a dressing gown over the duvet. I have the window open if it's mild, but any wind causes everything on the window sill to fall off so not a good idea. My fuel bills are the only thing I won't scrimp on because if you aren't warm enough life is miserable.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I found these tops (in link above )last year to be brilliant. I can't be doing with dressing gowns and loads of layers. One of these over a nightie/T-shirt was lovely and cosy.
Also I second whoever said about cuffed PJ bottoms rather than loose they are much warmer. They sell cuffed on same site as the tops in the link. What about a onesie too, can get fleeced lined ones..my teen can't sleep in theirs as its too hot but good for ppl who feel the cold0 -

You have my sympathies, I feel the cold a lot too. In fact I'd go so far as to say that I experience the cold more as a sensation of pain, the discomfort with it is so severe. I also find I have more muscular tension from about mid-October, as if I am tensed up against the colder weather, if that makes sense.
The flip side of this is that I can tolerate heatwaves in this country with no need for air-con or fans, to me higher temperatures feel 'normal' and how it should be!
Every year I get a long sleeve thermal top from Damart and wear it as a base layer, they dry overnight, conveniently, and take a few years to wear out, so I generally have about 3 to choose from during the winter.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Funnily enough, I asked my OH this morning if it was me, or if this morning was a bit nippy
Mind you, we're still on our summer weight duvet and have all the windows open as I can't stand a stuffy bedroom. I was debating closing the windows just before bedtime tonight, but another humid spell has most definitely arrived, so we'll put that off for a while.
I have no tips really apart from keeping your feet warm. I find the rest of me warms up no end if my feet are warm, so either bedsocks, or, odd as it sounds, plunge your feet into icy water for a few minutes before going to bed. Apparently your feet try and compensate for the cold and soon change to red hot after they're removed from the water. I've tried it when I simply couldn't get warm once and it worked a treat - long enough for me to get to sleep, anyway.0 -
I'm up north and it's very warm here, got the back door open to let some fresh air in.
As we have electric storage heating we won't be putting the heating on until late November if the family can last long enough. They've all got plenty of woolly jumpers, fleecy jogging bottoms etc to layer up with, and the woolly socks and slippers will be getting dug out soon, we've also got a couple of dogs and cats to snuggle up with as well, they love to snuggle thankfully.
I can sympathise with you though, as I'm the opposite to you op, I have Graves' disease and cannot bear the heat, the summer has been unbearable, I'm not going to be very popular for saying this but I long for the colder months, I would say I'll get me coat but I don't wear one :rotfl:0 -
There is no way I could ever sleep with heating running - even when it is sub zero I can only sleep with an open window.0

I spent yesterday on the beach, my mate was in a bikini.
You northern lot must be soft0 -
I need a little fresh air to sleep well so the window's always cracked open here.
Between drenching wet. hot flushes and then chilled cold because I'm damp and my hairs soaking wet, I'm on a summer light duvet and have on of my own made quilts just the right size for my side of the bed to pull over if needed. An extra sheet on my side doubled over helps as i can pull it off when it gets damp. The menopause can be complicated lol!!!:p
Hubby is very warm so handy for an instant heat up...
I'm about 2 odd months savings away from getting the new windows - can't wait it's my big winter thing :cool:0
