  • I had the dreaded migraine yesterday.:( I didn't realise I was getting one at first as I was feeling sick and thought it was the warm weather. We had a storm last night too and I sometimes get a headache before a storm.

Today I have written out all the things I am supposed to do when a migraine first strikes and have stuck it to the inside of my wardrobe door. When I get a migraine I can't think straight as I get a really weird aura and a muddled head and I can't remember what I'm supposed to do to help relieve the pain!

Next time I'm going to try to drink a glass of cold coke and take the painkillers straight away as I've read that can sometimes stop it. Coffee is supposed to work too, but I can't tolerate coffee for some reason.

I saw a photo of a woman and she has her feet in the bathroom sink and is resting an ice pack or pack of frozen peas on the back of her head where it meets the neck. I don't know if anyone else has seen that photo online? Putting your feet in a basin of hot water and ice on your head or back of the head is meant to stop migraines too.

I will try these next time to see if they actually work!:D

Wednesday I hope you're feeling better today; migraines are horrid! I get an aura of little orange "snakes" in my field of vision.
Fwiw, I've also heard that if your shoes are too tight, this can be a trigger for migraine (it's not the case for me, as I rarely wear any footwear; mine are I believe purely stress-related).
I have some empirical evidence in that years ago, my uncle, in desperation, visited a faith healer. She took one look at him and told him to buy larger shoes, as the pressure on his big toe was what was triggering his migraines. He took her advice, and - hey presto - he had no more migraines! I am not for an instant saying this would work for everyone of course, but it's a true tale, so I thought I'd relate it here. :o

OMG, that is so strange as I was trying to think if I had done anything different yesterday that could have triggered me. I was saying to my husband that the point in between my big toe and second toe was hurting me. I was wearing my new flip flop slippers and it was hurting in between the toes on my left foot. It was the left side that I had the migraine on! How strange.

The new slippers just went in the bin!

Good morning everyone, I have quite a few posts to catch up one, I have been like a poor man's version of the Duracell Bunny these last few days baking, pickling and getting ready for holiday in North Wales starting tomorrow, needless to say the spoon drawer is well and truly empty, but it will be fine again soon. DOH will be taking his bike and I will have time to read books and mse and then be chauffeured around beautiful countryside.

The Consultant I saw on Thursday was absolutely lovely and OH and I feel very safe in his hands - diagnosis of RA as expected, bloods taken and recommendation for treatment to be confirmed (Hydroxychloroquine) all scary stuff, lots of reading to be done and more support groups already signed up for:)

Take care everyone, I will hopefully be reading (site's wi-fi permitting), but not good at typing on a tablet

Another one with an empty spoon drawer here; my own fault, I did far too much yesterday; we went blackberrying, and when back, I made a quiche and a blackberry'n'apple crumble. The rest of the berries have gone into the freezer. I was also very brave and used the gas oven, which I am scared of. I usually wimp out and use the electric combi/micro.
I suspect washing my hair (with Mr LW's help) in the evening was a task too much though.

    Have a lovely holiday maddiemay

  • Oh I can empathise with an empty spoon drawer!. I filled in for a friend at our church charity shop on Saturday (highly enjoyable) then had a very few bits of shopping to do. Result....Sunday flat as a pancake and not much better today.
    Thanks for kind welcome polly.

Gah yes with the damn spoons. I'm managing today but yesterday I was out of spoons and in a lot of pain. Needless to say work didn't happen. Apologised profusely, they understood though thankfully. Sometimes my body just won't work.

On a different topic I bought a multi cooker a few days ago. Had been thinking about getting one for a while and saw this at reduced price. I think I'm in love with it lol. So far I've made white rice, porridge and a slow cooked vegetable curry in it. Very impressed with the results. So easy to use even for me; just select the setting you want after putting everything in and wait for the beep that says it's done. Also very light so even I can clean it which is lovely. May give away my heavy huge (6.5l) slow cooker at this rate. Was lovely to use but OH had to clean it as way to heavy for me to move.
Thinking about doing a cake in it soon. Cake with no need to use the oven!
Tomorrow I'll be using the grain function to cook quinoa.
Is it sad to say I can't wait :o?
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

D&G I am all in favour of any gadget that makes life easier. It's so much better, imho, than having to ask our nearest and dearest for help all the time, or, horror of horrors, pay someone to come in and do stuff.:eek::eek:

I have three days with no dog; then I have an hour's visit Thursday afternoon from Milly & Mia who are coming for their holiday at the end of the month - their owner wants them to come and visit a couple of times to get them used to us, particularly because Milly isn't very confident, and it'll make being separated from her owners easier on her.

Then Friday we have the other Mia coming for a three-night stay. She'll be arriving early, so we'll need to get our act together friday morning!

I'm intrigued......I had never heard of a multi cooker. Are they any good, can you please tell me what can you use them for. I'm guessing they are good for small portions.

I did try a remoska but found it too heavy to lift and I managed to burn myself so out it went.

I did wonder about buying a mini table top oven when it's just cooking for one but perhaps a multi Cooker would be more versatile??

I have just ordered a paraffin wax bath for hands and feet. I'll report back........

I used to use them on my clients when I was doing my beauty therapy but I had forgotten that they can be used for pain relief. Doh......:rotfl: I do find that cold damp weather makes the pain worse so It's worth a try.

I have been painting and d.I.y.-ing today so quite tired this evening. Just going to veg out now. Supper and maybe a glass of vino - purely medicinal.......:rotfl:

Does anyone else suffer from seasonal itchy arms? Not asking for medical advice, just wondering 😣
