  • So today I've managed to clean out the fluffy ones, though they were not amused, and I sat on my butt scootching around to vacuum the living room and kitchen. That is me done for cleaning today. I should sort out the darks for a wash tomorrow but I know I'm at my limit for the day. Have work tomorrow so can't overdo it today. Will have a long hot bath tonight.

I've had coffee so far today and I'm about to eat a load of fruit.
For food later I have left over fajita mix that I'll have cold with corn pasta (I'll microwave a portion of pasta) and I have a smoky chipolate beans with quinoa meal.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

    Good morning all.

D&G. So,glad to read you were successful with your PIP claim. Although I am sure you would much rather be well and not need it, it's good that it is settled now. That must be a weight off your mind.

Wednesday......let those tears flow, honey. It will make you feel better. Of course you miss your little kittie but letting your fur baby go was a final act of kindness and love. Doesn't make it any easier for you but you know in your heart it's for the best.

Well I have managed to eat a bit better this last couple of days and I am beginning to reap the benefits. I've lost 2.8 lbs of the 4lb increase so I am on the right track. Muscles Still stiff and sore but hopefully will see an improvement soon. I have a massage booked for Wednesday. Hopefully after that I can start doing a few more yoga type moves. In the meantime the Epsom salt baths help a bit.

And of course my old standbys.... industrial strength Voltarol gel and tiger balm. I get through tons of the stuff.

Tonight I shall be transferring to my sons olds bedroom, he's moved out and his room is bigger. :rotfl: My room is going to be a guest room. I have ordered a new bed for it.. He reckons that my current bed is very uncomfortable and is not helping me and that his is better. Well we shall see. If not then I can try the new bed. :rotfl:

I've got someone picking up the old bed later this morning so I had better get into that Epsom salt bath so I can get moving. :rotfl:

Maddie....glad the mini MOT went well.

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather, it helps my aches and pains but I understand some of you struggle when it's hot.

    Have a good weekend,

Hi everyone - lovely to catch up! So sorry to hear about your poor cat Wednesday :/
I'm going back to work soon and trying to get organised. I'm looking at completely changing my diet to help my MS and lifestyle in general, I have been looking at the paleo diet and I do believe in more natural based foods and cutting out the rubbish! I know someone has mentioned it here but I can't remember who. I'm a good 5 stone over weight since my illness has gotten worse (someone mentione pregablion too and that put loads of weight on me) and I need to change my life so I can manage better for my family. Has anyone found a change that has helped them massively? I struggle cooking and shopping for a family with young children and I'm worried going back to work and doing this is just setting myself up to fail! Sorry to be negative but things are just really hard right now xx

Hi Tink. I switched to Paleo. And it transformed how I feel. I think give it a try and see how you go.

Well I tried out my sons bed.

He was right, it's way more comfortable than my old one. :rotfl:

I feel a lot less stiff this morning than I normally do. Wahoo.

Thanks lesson learned - I'm going to try it just don't know how I can fit it in with the family as I'm not making 3 separate meals!

  • Hmm, I woke up feeling almost normal today and a lot less stiff and I'm wondering if it is because I did some gentle stretching yesterday and then did some arm exercises with my dumbbells. I haven't used them in years!:o:D I just did a few more arm exercises today before having a warm bath.

It's nice weather outside so I'm going to go and sit outside and play fetch with my dog and then start to read my new book afterwards.:)

Don't know how old your family are and how fussy they are. But basically paleo is just good healthy food, no crap.

Meat, fish, eggs, veg, fruit. Technically you are supposed to avoid dairy but I do indulge in a bit of stinky cheese every so often. Life would be very dull without a bit of Camembert......and you can't beat a bit of cheddar.:rotfl:

I do think that children will need plenty of cacium too, so again I would give them dairy.

There is nothing wrong with "good" carbs. In fact children need them for energy. So decent bread, potatoes etc. The odd portion of pasta or rice won't kill them if they like it. And plenty of Italians are perfectly healthy eating pizza. It was a staple for peasants.......

I think feed them paleo and then fill em up with good carbs. And of course they need treats, so puddings and cakes now and again will do no real harm.

There really is no need to cook separate meals for children. In fact I point blank refused when mine were small. We all ate the same. Take it or leave it was my motto.

I don't know if this might help but I found that not heaping their plates seemed to encourage them to eat properly. Put food in serving dishes and let them help themselves. It will make them feel terribly grown up and it will teach them good table manners.

I used to use kitchen roll as napkins, and they made napkin rings from toilet roll holders covered foil. And I always had a few cheap posies on the table, even if it was just a few twigs from the garden. The kids loved it, They called it "playing restaurants".

To ring the changes you could have "Chinese nights" "Italian nights" etc where you theme the food and table decorations and the kids have to learn a few words of the language. You could say for example have cook a ealthy stir fry and they could just have a few noodles or some rice as an extra to fill them up.

Themed nights are such fun. We used to do them on a Friday night. We even used to dress up, for example Mine would "dress Italian" and pretend to be mafiosa and I would be their moll.:rotfl:

Have fun and enjoy......food is meant to be a pleasure so get the family on board.

I am trying to get to grips with paleo baking, using substitutes like coconut and almond flour. It's a bit hit and miss but I'm getting there.

There's loads of web sites now for paleo recipes. Check out Paleo Mom.

    Good luck.

It takes a bit of getting used to but once you get into it it does become second nature.

Wednesday. Good to hear you feel better today. Yes the exercise probably did help. Good for you. I know I always feel better when I exercise regularly, as you say even just a few stretches seem to make a huge difference.

I don't always practice what I preach though but I really do notice the difference when I don't try. It can be hard when you are in pain but you do have to keep moving.

Thanks - the kids are 7&4 so need milk and cheese. I was going to try to tailor it a bit to our needs so we will still have potatoes and white rice but I'm happy to loose pasta and cheese alone with bread and grains. I think just trying to eat more natural foods is a good start and then see how I'm feeling and tweaking it to work for us.
I love to home cook meals but find that days im not well we struggle and I do have tins/frozen pizza etc on standby. My husband will still take sandwiches to work and the kids will have a school dinner but snacks and main evening meal will be all together. I can manage my own breakfast and lunch. I just hate when I'm ill loads of fresh food going to waste if I can't manage to cook so a meal plan and prep is a must then DH can help too.
It looks really interesting and something I don't have to think too much about although some things I will have to replace is weetabix and yoghurts as these are something I eat regularly. I suppose I can only try it!
