Never had any problem with Argos, personally.
  • Yes whenever I've had problems with hoovers of various makes, its usually turned out to be due to not cleaning a filter I didn't even know was there (had a hoover with two). I didn't read the instruction properly initially of course lol.

Also can encourage the OP to use YouTube.., find a video that makes sense to you and follow it. Lot less trouble than not having a hoover.

However, I believe the cordless dysons can be problematic from reading reviews. I'll be sticking to corded.

Had same problem with the same model. Are you holding the" trigger" firmly all the time my OH initially had problems with this and it constantly cut out.

However mine was out of warranty researching turned up that many users had same problem.
Looked at one solution which worked for me apparently through use the battery unit becomes slightly loose from machine, putting one of those plastic garden ties ( the ones that slide through the buckle and can be adjusted ) around the battery/handle keeps it tight. I did this about 1 year ago, has worked since then.

But OP in your case I would go into Argos and tell them Consumer Rights Act applies and machine is not fit for purpose.
  • Thank you for all your replies.
The machine including filter is spotless and as forever21 says it does seen to be a well known common fault.
Finger is consistent on trigger so not that. And in all fairness it's just not very good. It doesn't hold charge for the said 20 mins. My max button doesn't work at all. It is hard work to get it to pick up anything and I actually think it's a waste of money.
I will try the argos route as dyson customer care is really poor and incredibly rude.
I just want a machine that works.

Take it into Argos, to the customer service desk.
Tell them it keeps cutting out.
Ask them if you can have a refund.
Don't mention having spoken to Dyson, as this isn't relevant.

    I'm sure they'll refund you.
