Dyson cordless animal V6

Hi I bought a dyson v6 from argos on the 11th July 2016
It cut out every now and then and I assumed this was my error as I had never had a cordless vacuum before.
I did all required, ensured it was clean, empty etc...
Alas it's become unusable. It cuts out constantly.
I have contacted dyson who have told me to dismantle the hoover to get the battery out. I really don't know how to and nor do I want to. Plus it will invalidate the warranty
They refuse to accept there is a problem and argos keep telling me to contact dyson.
I now have a very expensive useless piece of equipment and no idea what to do
Can anyone offer any advice please
Thank you.

I actually did read that. I also read about the 30 days thing under the new consumer regulations and being honest, I can't make head nor tail of it.
I have contacted argos, they insist on referring me back to dyson
I initially contacted dyson but they want me to jump through hoops and dismantle the thing. I am not comfortable taking it apart. In fact I'm not comfortable taking any electrical item apart.
The vacuum doesn't work. Full stop. Nowhere in the user manual does it mention taking the battery out. I would be happier to get rid of it
I have complied with every other step dyson have asked of me0 -

I suggest you go to Argos with the item and demand they repair, replace or refund. If they refuse ask to speak to a manager. Explain you are not making a warranty claim but seeking your statutory rights.
If they still refuse then take the matter to Citizen's Advice.
(PS It seems they have made the battery harder to remove. On early, v. similar looking models, the battery could be removed by pressing a button, but it now requires a bit more effort and a screwdriver.)0 -
Why are you being so condescending wealdrom?
I obviously can manage to read. I just asked for help.
Thankfully another member has helped me. I thought that's what this forum was for - help with consumer rights!0 -

I have deleted them just in case there was anything useful.0 -
It is very easy to remove the battery from the V6, they are designed so the battery can be replaced without returning the whole unit. You will not invalidate the warranty by following the manufacturer's instructions.
If you're unsure of what to do, there will be videos on YouTube that you can follow.0 -
Even if the battery is at fault the item is still quite new ,so it should be included in the warranty.
Also, your contract is with the wholesaler and not the manufacturer, so escalate within Argos if the local store is unhelpful.0 -
It really cannot be that difficult to remove the battery and if Dyson are advising you to do this to fix the issue then I very much doubt your warranty would be invalidated.
Give it ago or see if you can ask someone who would be confident carrying out the task.
Best of luck.0 -

Had the same problem
Cleaned the filter, problem solved....even though the filter looked perfectly clean. I now do it monthly regardless0
