I had my car serviced beginning of August, Paid and asked for receipt and stamp for my service book, he said he doesn't do stamps but will pop service documents in post.

Sent him 3 texts and called all to no avail.

He is a registered business and in the next town across from me.

What can I do? I'm planning to sell this car and getting the service done was to sort out if there were any issues before Mot and selling.

Is there anything anyone can suggest?

Visit him and ask for the paperwork. Simples.

Do you have the receipt? Why won't he stamp the book?

I only have the transaction receipt from his card unit, which states amount and not much else.

I wont go to his business/home I'm not going to argue at someones doorstep.

I've sent a 5 day to respond with service paperwork email stating I will contact the trading standards and make them aware of his practises.

Not sure what that will do but I'm dumbfounded why he can't just give me the paperwork, the water pump needed doing after service and I paid him to do that, I did have to text him to remind him when he was a day late getting that part sorted and he came and done it.

He assured me this would all be in post. No idea why he had no stamp, I didn't know that till he had serviced the car.

Annoying as I always do a yearly service and if winter is bad a winter service too.

I don't want to sell my car without as it will affect the sale not having the full service history and just having part.

I've asked him by phone and text several times over 6 weeks.

He has totally ignored me yet read the messages.

I have left him 2 answer phone messages, 3 weeks apart neither go a response.

He has had 3 texts each 2 weeks apart.

He is a big guy whatever his issue i'm not going to his doorstep.

    You can't do that.

You'll have to go via Citizens Advice.

A bit shoddy but he's under no obligation to stamp books or issue receipts.

Just have a friend sign the book writing his business name on it

This! You paid for him to service your car, he did indeed service your car. He doesn't have to issue you any paperwork at all if he doesn't want to. If you wanted a stamp and paperwork you should have taken it to a normal garage instead of a mobile mechanic.

If he's VAT registered then he's obliged to issue a VAT receipt.

If he isn't, he probably should be.

Either way, mention of HMRC may produce a result.
