My son has started playing football after school all his friends go...my ex has contact with my son every other weekend and refuses to let my son play the matches that are on a Sunday stating that he cannot afford to pay for the kit....we went to court a few mnths ago and he agreed to pay half for kit and sport glasses but now he has refused....my son went for contact over the hols but my ex refused to take him to training or football and as my son is scared to stand up to his dad didn't argue...he has come home now and wants to go to footie again however I don't see why I should have to foot the bill for all the kit it's around 100 and dont 'have that sort of spare money...am happy to go halves as I want my son to be happy. My ex has said to my son if he pays for his kit he will have to give his step children money too as it wont be fair that he gets something they don't....am so frustrated as I want my son to go but can't afford the full cost myself....wanted some advice pls

Is there no way you can get the necessary kit for £50? Have you tried talking to the people running the team/club? Second hand etc.
I totally agree your ex is being very awkward and he isn't doing his relationship with his son any good either.0 -
Surely it's a one off cost, if he was already doing it he has the kit etc? Or am I missing something?0

It sounds like the father's partner has had some say in the matter otherwise he wouldn't be such an rsole. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

You can't get £100 together?
Have you got Sky? Do you go on holidays? Any other cuts that can be made to your budget? The debt-free-wannabe board is pretty good if you want to post up your SOA there.0 -
It was my ex's idea for him to go to football....it is a one off cost but I can't afford to pay for it all at the moment and even if I did he still has contact with him every other weekend which is when the match would be played don't see the point of him training for a match he can't play...the annoying thing is I know he can afford it as he has just been on two holidays which i dont begrudge him but i don't like that fact whenever my son finds something he wants to do he is discouraged from doing it....I am going to court next month cos last season he refused to take him and my son refused contact so he took me back to court ....now ita happening all over again and cant see a way around it...it's a new season so new kit needed I paid for last one0

Why on earth are you wasting court time and your money on taking such frivolous things to court?
Surely that money would have been best spent on the actuall glasses and kit?0 -

You cant decide what he does during his contact time.
This is madness, He can still play one week in two, perfectly reasonable.0 -
So you have a court order explicitly stating he has to pay for half of the sports kit and glasses?Mortgage when started: £330,995
