I've been with Plusnet for years.
It suits me and not had any problems.
But my missus was asking me why I paid the Line rental up front £185 per year.
I said because it is cheaper and I didn't want to be on a contract..
But then I check uSwitch and see that with Plusnet amongst others the Full Contract Cost for a 12 month contract is £222.87
I am paying Advanced Line rental £185 per year
Plusnet unlimited £9.99 per month
Call Plan Charge £6.50 per month
Total £382.88 per year
I only use the internet in UK for 6 months a year as we are out of UK for 6 months every year.
I'm getting stuffed aren't I.
Will I be able to get onto the Plusnet 12 month contract?
Will I get any of my upfront Line rental payment of £185 returned to me if I change ISP?
If I do change ISP will the change happen with no interuption of service as with gas and elec???
Any other ideas??

It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Ring them they are always ready to negotiate. You may be pleasantly surprised. We check our package every year or so to make sure we are on the best deal. We pay £28 a month for unlimited fibre and that includes line rental paid monthly0

Thanks.
I was going to give them a ring.
Any strategy to use.
At the end of the day I've no problem leaving for BT or Talk Talk.
But wondered how long the changeover might be and would I lose the internet for any length of time.
Also once my 12 month contract ends can I re contract for another 12 months at the same rate or do I have to switch to another supplier to get the free internet for 12 months???It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
For instance they just did a deal on the faster fibre package for a friend of ours. He was getting at best 3meg as he is on old aluminium wiring to the estate. They did the fastest fibre package for the same price, £10 plus line rental, providing he stayed a year! I would go to Talk Talk for a gold clock or BT. At least with Plusnet the call centre is in Sheffield!0

I see what you say about TT or BT but I use the Plusnet call center once in a blue moon.
I get 9 Mbps download which is fine for me it does everything I need. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
As others have said, with Plusnet the secret is to know when your minimum contract period expires & then phone them a month before having seen what is available from other suppliers.
They will normally offer you the same or better - last time I phoned them I got 18 months free internet!0 -
OK I'll go for that I think.ciderboy2009 wrote: »As others have said, with Plusnet the secret is to know when your minimum contract period expires & then phone them a month before having seen what is available from other suppliers.

But if I did switch anyone know how long it will take and if I'll be without the internet for any time? It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Switch you just pick your new supplier and they do it all . Downtime from 10 min to a couple of hours .0

When my renewal came up I rang and quoted them other prices but they said they could not price match ......................... then gave me the "new customer" offer which was actually cheaper than the others
