Romantic meal disaster!!

My girlfriend started a new job today. I decided to cook her something nice and have a bottle of wine as a nice treat. Her favourite food is a proper traditional Lancashire hotpot and i copied the recipe for the hotpot from the OS board. Where i get all of my recipes from lol. The lid on the pressure pan can't have been on properly and this in the picture happened pmsl. I thought i can't be the only person who has had a romantic meal disaster. Share your stories.

My first ever meal that i cooked was for my boyfriend in his flat. I prepared and cooked a stew but forgot to add liquid.
It came out in a solid mass. :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I cooked an amazing meal for my now OH when we met. Only after we got to know each other better i realised that i had cooked everything he couldn't stand - mushroom sauce and a fancy filled pasta. followed by a creme brule
He was a total hero though, he just ate it all even though he absolutely hated every single mouthful because he liked me and knew i had worked hard to make the dinner a lovely surprise.
Poor guy.
second meal i set fire to the kitchen - after that he now does all the cooking.0 -
I just take four times as long as expected to cook anything. He cooks all week, but I sometimes cook on a Sat night. We're often sitting down to eat at gone 10pm lol (I usually aim for 7.30-8.30pm). It just throws me every time - I always think I have loads of time.
He does all the prep for me too LOL!

My first proper meal I cooked for my husband was his favourite stew and dumplings. I made the dumplings but forgot to put the suet in so they came out as tough hard flour balls. He ate them though

Not romantic, but I once cut a hard boiled egg open to fined it was still soft in the middle, so I decided to finish it off in the microwave. I took it out of the microwave, put it on the worktop, stuck a fork in it and BANG, the kitchen was instantly redecorated with scrambled egg.0

On our first Valentines Day together my BF (now husband) spent hours decorating the house with candles, flowers etc and prepping a romantic meal...only for the oven to break while the starter was cooking! He was gutted but luckily there was a chip shop nearby! :rotfl:"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Not a meal as such but someone who'd better remain nameless decided to pop some popcorn. Without putting the lid on the saucepan..0
