30MPH Flashing warning signs

And your source for that is?
I've had these things flashing "30" at me when doing 25mph GPS or 28mph OBD, in many locations across the west-midlands, Birmingham and Worcestershire.
Quite often the worst ones are in the "well to do" villages where the locals are up in arms about speeding drivers and have paid for their own flashing signs. Funny because in for example f3ckenham (censored seriously?????), they campaigned for years to get speed enforcement through the village, then when they finally got it, the only people that got caught were the locals.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I see them as being like a boss giving you false work deadlines, or simply the boy crying wolf. After a while you just start to stick up your middle finger and carry on regardless.
Not my experience. I find that the speedos on both my modernish cars and their satnavs agree with these signs with no perceptible error. My 1958 MGA, however, has the old eddy current type speedo which over reads by 3 mph.at 30 mph.0 -
They don't catch people. They are placed where speed limits are regularly and excessively ignored. There's one close to where I live. 30mph road which is wide, clear and only has a slight bend. Its also busy with crossings and a school entrance. Average speed is around 40 mph but cars regularly overtake at 50ish mph despite no safe overtaking places due to side roads and crossings.
Walking along the road today a people carrier started its overtake next to a school entrance, was directly alongside the car being overtaken over the black and white crossing markings and was heading back into the correct lane through a staggered crossroad. It had to be back in the correct lane before the central, keep left island which was put in place to prevent overtaking and then joined the queue for the island that was just ahead. Pointless overtake from a hopeless driver who probably thinks he's doing nothing wrong.
I wish these signs were speed cameras.0 -

It is a shame they don't enforce speed limits where it's really needed. I think it just helps to prove it's all about money and statistics, rather than actually doing anything about road safety.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

But you're so paranoid about speed enforcement you think they're set that way rather than poor calibration.0 -
But you're so paranoid about speed enforcement you think they're set that way rather than poor calibration.
They are set that way, they're poorly managed by folk who think making them over sensitive will have a greater effect, much like the boss that sets deadlines a week before the real deadline in the hope of making people work faster, it's flawed logic because people quickly realise these things are false and quickly begin to ignore them.
Im also not paranoid about speed enforcement, i'm a realist.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

They're not over sensitive just poorly calibrated and are not used for enforcement.0 -

I can remember one on a 50mph limit road that would light up and tell you to slow down if you were driving at 40mph.0

Really? You carp on about it often enough on here, I wouldn't trust you to be balanced in a discussion on them.
At the end of the day, if you don't speed then enforcement won't affect you.0
