Fashion world issues

I have three accounts with JD Williams. One is fashion world. I went on a payment plan with fashion world 12 months ago as at the time I needed to get my balance down and pay a lesser amount for a short period. They agreed on a payment plan for 6 months for £30 a month which was ok for me. After 6 months I told them I wanted to come off the payment plan and get my account back to normal and be able to order with them again as I can now afford the bigger payments. They refused saying I couldn't come off the payment plan as I need to pay more each month first to prove I can pay normal again so I started paying £60 a month instead for 6 months. Now after 12 months and paying every month on time they still won't take me off the payment plan so I can't use any of my JD Williams accounts. My other account I have to pay £79 a month even though my balance has decreased by over Half and usually as your balance goes down minimum payment should go down but when I rang them they said yes my minimum payment shouldn't be that high in a balance of £555 but it won't reduce until I place another small order with them to 'unjam the system' but I can place an order Because I'm on a payment plan with fashion world which I want to come off but they won't allow me too!!!! They said they review accounts every 6 months but they obviously don't review mine!!
How can I come off the payment plan and start ordering again because I think it's unfair what they are doing.

Clearly you have experienced a debt problem and the company concerned want to be certain that you won't make purchases you cannot afford in the future. They have already treated you very fairly by allowing you to have a payment plan. Have they also frozen the interest?

I'd only expect them to fully re-instate your account when your payment plan comes to an end and you are no longer in arrears.

You might be better posting for advice on the Debt Free Wannabe forum of this website.

  • I am no longer in arrears and my payment plan should have ended 6 months ago but they are still insisting on keeping me on this payment plan

You said that you still owe £550 elsewhere though.

Clearly, they don't want to extend further credit facilities to you at present. Do note that they are not obliged to lend you more money at all.

If you can't afford to pay upfront for the items you want, then you'll just have to do without them until you can.
  • Also JD Williams should be reducing my minimum payment from £79 as this is the minimum payment you pay when you have a balance of over £1000 but mines only £555 so I should only be Paying them about £46 a month but the refuse to reduce it unless I make an order from them but I have had credit limit taken away so can't make an order from them!!!

Yes I still have a balance but I'm not in 'arrears' as such as I make the payments asked of every month so my account has always been up to date
  • Requesting the payment plan has meant your credit worthiness has been severely compromised.

You didn't answer when I asked if the company has frozen the interest?

Pay off all your debt and the company may consider re-opening your account.

Or they may just close your accounts.

The company gabe frozen interest in just one account.

I'm afraid you'll be paying this payment plan until the balance is completely cleared then.

I also don't expect they'll be extending credit facilities to you in the future...

I have been a good customer though apart from said payment plan.. I've never missed a payment ever! And if they want to close my
Accounts and stop offering credit to me then this should tell me instead of telling me different things. Why not just tell me straight

They have told you "straight". As you told us in the original post.

Why do you think the company should extend you credit facilities again when they have written off interest payments to enable you to pay off what you already owe?

You need to understand that you are no longer credit worthy as far as this company is concerned. You'll probably experience difficulty getting credit elsewhere too, as there will be a marker on your credit file.
they still won't take me off the payment plan so I can't use any of my JD Williams accounts.
    Exactly.
You may feel this is not "fair", but there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Even if you were to pay everything you owe and return your balance to zero, you'd still be unlikely to be offered new credit facilities..
