Hi Catty, just wanted to wish you a good run!

It's not school, you're in charge and you'll be rightly proud of every run you do, :)

Thanks so much Cherryfudge! Pushing myself further isn't going to be an issue, I think! Still, Week1 Run 1 completed today :j

I do feel like I'm dying, and each 60 seconds got harder and harder as the time went on but I did complete them all, so it can only get better, right? I know I'm much less fit than most but at least I've made a start... I think I might be repeating Week 1 a couple of times...

Hello greent, sorry to hear you've not been well. Hopefully that will soon pass, good that you are looking on this as a temporary blip! Wow you do sound to have worked hard for those 2 weeks - are you sure it's not exhaustion? :D (get well soon :) ).

Thanks cherryfudge - I was doing the Zumba anyway (had worked up to that amount) so adding in c25k wasn't too bad as an extra (even if it was killing me - totally different exercise :D:D) but my chest is my weak area with regards to infections - thought I'd managed to avoid a lasting infection this Winter - just waited until Spring to get it instead! The warmer weather will really help and I'll just go back to W1 and restart - I'll get there eventually.

Lovely to see so many other newbies/ almost newbies on here too :)

Great start! I repeated various runs too. Doesn't hurt! :)

It helps me to have some proper stretches while I cool down. I forgot the other day and suffered for it yesterday. It's surprising how your body adjusts though.

Well, I just did W1R2... :T If anything it felt harder than the first one though! Sill feel like I'm going to throw up but managed all of the running sections. Think my "brisk walk" in between is more of a slow crawl.

Have made sure to incorporate stretches too... have to say am looking forward to the future weeks when I'll see some progress :)

Well done Catty! It will get easier - maybe your body was taken by surprise when you got it to run twice and didn't know how to react... Maybe someone with more experience than me could advise whether you need to change something, maybe be slower or something?

As for me - three days with no runs, though I've been active. Probably too active, I'm very tired. Will try for a good night's sleep tonight and see how I feel tomorrow.

Another run after 5 days off. Thankful don't seem to have lost too much ground, in fact I accidentally broke into a jog as I was supposed to be warming up. Then I was running into the wind and it felt nice... definitely something wrong with me, lol.

I found a nice motivator: I imagined someone who had told me running would do damage, standing by a finish line as I completed a 10K, and seeing how much it's benefitting me. :)

  • Hi there, I completed W1 last week and R3 was the hardest I have to admit, saying that W2R1 felt much better so I wonder if this was a one off....I am definitely pacing myself though, going very slow and steady but completing all. I just registered to do a 10k charity run so I can motivate myself further (I can only run 90 secs at a time now haha)

Thanks for the encouragement Cheeryfudge! And well done on your run - sounds like an excellent motivator!!

Also, glad to hear from fire-wannabe that someone else has found W1 a bit of a challenge!

So, today I did W1R3 after 2 days of not running (but one of those days I went swimming instead)... Didn't find it any easier though tried really hard to concentrate on my breathing. I might attempt W2R1 but if it's just too much then I'll repeat W1 again.

Also noticed that it's not just my face that turns an alarming shade of lobster but also my arms and chest...:o
  • My breathing is the hardest thing to control so my focus is on that at the moment, did W2R2 today and found it challenging and even though my legs are slightly feeling the extra pressure it's the breathlessness I need to work on , we'll get there (even though I can't seem to picture reaching W9 now, I try to only concentrate on the next run)
