You're doing better than me, I really struggle to stop my brain winning sometimes, when I really want to push I end up in a jog rather than speeding up!

If your brain is telling you to stop then a jog is still beating it

I managed 25 minutes this morning - only 3.5km in that time though so not convinced I'll be at 5k in a fortnight or so time

It does make me realise how far I've come in the 7 weeks though, I wasn't completely unfit to start, but I didn't run. I'm still not enjoying the running but 10-15minutes is now absolutely fine, doesn't bother or frighten me at all - whereas the jump to 8 minutes was huge and scary at the time (and I didn't like the 5 minutes if I'm honest)

I'm the same, on week 8 but still only hitting 3.5k. I've not been posting as much because I really still don't feel like a 'runner' but still trying to pick up stamina and pace. I will try a treadmill run tomorrow, I started a circuit training class on Friday and my muscles ache all over haha!
  • I would just like to point out to Sweetilemon and Clairec79 that, to folk like me who have just started week 3, those who talk of running 3.5km are like gods!

well done to everyone. I have to stay that your efforts do you proud and the results do stay with you. I did C2k 5 years ago after being talked into a Race4Life. It was a 6 week plan back then. I did my 5k and a couple of park runs but then life, and plantar fasciitis and then pneumonia, got in the way. 5 years on with no intervening exercise except dog walking and I decided to run again. I went out and did about 4k and then a bit more and was back at 5k (pretty slowly and very red and out of breath) after a few outings. Then I took another break for the summer. I saw an ad for a free 6 week program to improve parkrun times and signed up. My starting point was 37 mins but I did run all the way round. Now 4 weeks in I have just got under 33 mins and I automatically assume I will run the whole thing, not walk for a bit. It is an amazing feeling.
Running is still very hard work and people do the same course in less than half my time but I am getting out there, I feel better for it and it is free!

Well done everyone! I'm pretty much over my chest infection so need to get back on the running! I don't know if I should dive straight back in to week 3...I think I'll try it, and if it's really bad I'll drop back to week 2 for a run or two.

  • Hi all.

Just finished week 3 run 2. I must confess to being surprised - despite a meal out last night, involving pizza, I didn't find it as difficult as run 1.

Could this actually be working

Don't knock pizza! I regularly run fuelled on pizza.

    Glad its getting easier WR.

  • Congrats Wild Rover! I second indesisiv's comment on the pizza. A little of what you fancy does you good! Week 7, run 3 done tonight but had one failed run in the middle so wondering if I should do one more on week 7 before pushing on to week 8? Eek!

@Fletchasketch personally I would push on with week 8. You can always repeat that week. If you are managing with it in general it makes sense to me. Besides I'm sure you will be fine with week 8. ;)

How have I nearly caught up with Fletch?

Personally I'd move on to week 8 - it doesn't look like a huge jump, plus the last run of week 6 is the same as the 3 runs of week 7, so you've done three 25 minute runs even if you had one not so good one
