  • Wow, you guys are going great guns. Congrats Elfbert, Iammuntoone, ClaireC, Sweetilemon, Wild Rover and WTBSE!

The biggest jump for me so far was wk 5, day 3 so good luck to everyone getting near that, feels amazing once you get over that hump!

On to Week 7 tonight. Looks like it's going to be a late one so may well be my first proper night-time run. Weather is good though, so hope I can make it to the 25 min mark!

Goodluck for your run! After skipping Mondays I'm totally out of sync so might do a sneaky run together Thurs & Fri. I need to work on pace and stamina, only managing 3.5k in the time just now so hoping to make it to 5k in 30mins, even if it takes longer than the 9 weeks. I sent my sports bras back, think I'll need to go in to get measured they weren't a great fit. The app advices to go outside for the run but although I think it would be better, I'm not sure I'm ready for running in public yet! Plus at this time of year the weather is pretry bad. Enjoyed yoga today but missed out on my swim because I forgot my costume grrrr.
  • Just back from tonight's run. The first 5 mins were really tough, but eventually got into my stride and managed the full 25, yes!

I've started using an app called Strava (alongside the podcast) and I really like it. Only managing 12 minute miles at the moment, but will be nice to see how that progresses.

I much prefer running outside, it was dark tonight so don't think more than a couple of people would have seen me. Each to their own though, if the treadmill works for you then fab.

I don't know if it was anything like here but if it was well done on running last night, it was sooo hot here. Over 20 degrees for my entire run last night.

I'm not sure that I could run on a treadmill either something about it just doesn't seem right to me. I like to feel like I am getting somewhere when I am running, and there is nothing like gliding down a hill to make you feel better.

Well done Fletch - so week 5 run 3 is the big hump - think thats going to be Saturday for me -eek

Indesisiv I have the same feelings about treadmills, I think if I was running or walking and staying in one spot I'd wonder why I was doing it
  • Weather forecast for today doesn't look particularly unhelpful - rain and pretty strong winds.

Still, week 1 session 3 won't do itself, and it's probably "character-building" or some such stuff ...........!

I'm sitting here listening to the rain battering off the window :( .

It took decades of eating what I like, when I like and a relative lack of exercise to get me into the state where a challenge like this was necessary so, in keeping with my comments elsewhere about accepting personal responsibility........ :o no choice really!

    I'll post later :D

I quite enjoy the rain as long as its not too windy or too cold.

On a day like today where the temp is so high its quite good, although I have to wear a hat to keep the rain out of my eyes which causes a few problems in wind like today. :rotfl:

Good luck all those running today.

  • Well, session 3 of week one now complete. I seemed to hit a rain free time, but the wind was pretty unpleasant.

I plan to start week 2 on Sunday, but I'll spare myself the terror of downloading the second podcast until Sunday morning. No point in frightening the horses :D.

    Keep going everyone!

    Cheers!

Well, if you have a stomach bug, it sounds as if you might well be running......... just not outdoors.

    Get well soon!

    Well done Wild_Rover!

I thought tonight (Wk 3 day...4!) went so well I might sneak a look at next week...

The reason I like the treadmill at the moment is that it keeps me on-pace - no slowing down, no interruptions, no going off too fast and keeling over before the end. (Although I do worry I might end up :rotfl: rolling straight off the treadmill on my face!)

That said, I'm aiming for ParkRun in the great outdoors! (Well...Wormwood Scrubs....which is outdoors, although possibly not 'great' :D)

What made a massive difference between tonight's good run and Tuesday disaster was me being well hydrated today. I made sure to drink loads of water at work, instead of just relying on tea and coffee all day. Such a difference :T

Good luck, everyone! You're all very inspiring.
