I hope she loses the tenancy and the house with that attitude.

It's secured, for life :) How much hatred and jealously must you have to wish an old woman loses her home simply because she wants to transfer the tenancy to her son who can manage it when she cannot.

Who was the initial tenant? If the tenancy has already been passed on once, then all discussion about owning a house is irrelevant, because there can only be one succession of a council or housing association tenancy.

Why cant he just help her pay the rent - its not rocket science ?? Oh hang on - he wants to get it transferred into his name so he can add this discounted property into his portfolio ! Im glad you have written to the housing association and put them 'on notice' of this scheme

How about trying to help her manage the tenancy she's got instead of looking at ways to benefit from her house?

Power of attorney would enable someone to be supported to manage the financial aspects of a tenancy if they no longer wished to do so themselves.

And yes the OP has been rude but it is still uncalled for to wish their mother out on the street.

This is what one local council says

Is there not something like this where you are OP?

I'll wait for an official reply from the housing association.

I did Google it first but couldn't find an answer specifically about someone already having owned a council home. Even in the link you posted it says.

It does mention that person needs to be living with you for a year, which is fine because he can just move in there for a year to be eligible. Again there is no mention here whether or not the person you sign it over to is not eligible if they already own a council property.

I'll just wait for the reply back from the council. I'm sure I won't receive an ill-hearted response.

The council will look into the details of any transfer and may well class this as tenancy fraud so go ahead and try - especially if he supposedly lives elsewhere

And make your mind up it's either the council or housing association
