My car has a built in Garmin Nuvi Sat Nav - the car was serviced last week for a fixed price by the main dealers but the Sat Nav was not updated ...(it is "requesting" an update !!)
Would you expect a dashboard Sat Nav to be included in the service items or not ?

    No, I wouldn't.

Is it in the service schedule? Is it in the dealer's fixed-price service list?

The problem is that my sat nav does not run on an SD card - it has an SD slot though
Will it download from an SD card to internal memory ?

Pass your owner's handbook here, I can't quite read it from this distance.

You'll have to check what the manual says, some units are only licensed for a period.

I certainly hope that my Sat Nav is "licenced" for more than 2 years ???

The problem with built in SatNavs is they can usually only be updated by the dealers who charge a ridicules amount, it is cheaper to buy a separate TomTom or Garmin with free lifetime updates.
