Ahh yes, they have those strange white phone boxes dont they ..
So dont BT operate in Hull atall then ??

    Always wondered about that

Sadly no BT ... and not too many people in the rest of the uk want to know BT but we do ....

I live outside of Hull but not far enough out for BT.

The only saving grace is that KC are not doing fibre to cabinet. So when they do get round to putting fibre in it is all fibre to property.

If i were in your shoes, i would first check what the signal was like for the Three network in your house.
Then i would buy an old samsung galaxy s2 from ebay (Around 50 squid)
Then, get a PAYG sim card from Three, stick it in and load it with the £25 a month package that gives you 300 mins, 3000 texts and Unlimited data.

Set up a hotspot and your off.

(I say a galaxy s2 but any unlocked phone from that era will work, this is because this was before the networks started to implement teathering restrictions in the handsets)

I use this method myself for streaming stuff on my laptop whilst on a train or whatever
You should get at least 4Mb/s , which is plenty for one device streaming

Purely out of interest - what speed can you get out of a 4G connected smart phone, through tethering ?

I have 6 machines with the Anniversary update installed, none of them encountered any problems.

That is surprisingly quick - nowhere near what I get on my fibre connection - but not bad !!

haha I am with three as that is one of the few networks that have an app to send calls and texts through my wifi.

I have no signal in my house, I appear to be in a dip surrounded by houses so get no signal inside on any network. I can't even use one of the satellite broadband systems that they use as I can't get line of site to the transmitters points. That is just a quirk to where I live though.
Although in saying that at work my phone is reporting on average between 65-85% of the time with no signal and that is at the top of a hill :rotfl:

This is horrible - The people of Hull should riot ..
Or at least make a MASSIVE fuss ..

Sounds like Kcom have a monopoly here - shouldnt they be made to offer their lines out for resale the same as BT ?
