Breakdown cover

My breakdown cover is about to expire along with my current car insurance policy. I was thinking of signing up to AutoAid again (I was with them a couple of years ago but never had to call them out).

Are the reviews of AutoAid still positive? I was perhaps thinking of going with GEM, AA or one of the other big boys. But obviously the prices of policies elsewhere is more expensive.

Would appreciate any advice.

Autoaid sold out to right choice in may this year.

Negative feedback now being reported here and across the net.

There is also this long running thread in the insurance forum - "avoid insuring with RCIB"

Thanks for the heads-up. I may give AutoAid a miss. Bit of a shame really as the reviews in the past (when they were owned by Equity Red Star) were positive.

That thread is over 6 years old and has no connection to breakdown cover.

Can you provide a reliable reference to "negative feedback now being reported here" to suggest there have been problems since May. The only references to Autoaid here are very positive ones.

The post quite clearly, and accurately, states the link is to a thread relating to the new parent company of AutoAid, rather than AutoAid themselves.

I did look at AutoAid, but went with GEM solely because of AutoAid's ridiculous and outdated social attitudes, which doubled the potential premium for me.

    I'm keen to know more.

Simple. Free spouse cover. But ONLY if they actually are your spouse or civil partner. Not if you've merely been together for the last 20 years, and "living in sin" for most of that time.

EVERY other similar service? No problem.

Even my mother's got over it by now...

It seems quite fair by AutoAid. How do they know you are living together and not just friends trying to halve the cost?

How would they know we were actually married?

How, come to that, does EVERY SINGLE OTHER breakdown company seem to manage?

Same surname must increase the likelyhood significantly plus they could check from insurance records and other sources if they suspected fraud.
  • I'd be interested to see the negative reviews since the takeover from RCIB. Has anyone had any difficulty being reimbursed for call-outs?
