Pretty sure it's been updated as they've adjusted the quickcheck page with new opt outs etc. :(

It seems you can request a manual review of your limit though... I'm tempted to ask and see what they say! They used to insist that you were only eligible when they decided you were eligible - although as it's an automated decision I guess under DPA they HAVE to let you appeal

That message isn’t new I had the same one when I sent a message about my credit limit! That was probably 9/10months ago:(

Looks like Cap1 have gone back to the 4 month rule - I magically became eligible a few days ago (last card opened in November).

They only gave me £200 on this card LOL. Lower APR than the one I grabbed last time (29.84% compared to 34.9% I'm on at the moment IIRC).

Got £3,750 outstanding with them on 0% running out soon, so I'll consolidate the cards again, have £3,950 on 0% for another 4 months.... and whack the 4k in the LISA. I was always going to do that, for the 25% govt. bonus.... but was going to be stung by some interest charges - savings maturity dates don't match (stupid me!!!)
  • Me again...

Well I closed one of my cap one card in January 2018, I received my deposit of £49 back in the post about 2weeks later

I!!!8217;ve paid all my cards off in feb, I!!!8217;m using them now just spending £10 on each and paying in full by direct debit and my CCJ has been removed from all my reports I!!!8217;ve checked all 3

I used the eligibility check for cap one and I got the !!!8220;your credit score is too low!!!8221; messege even though it!!!8217;s increased by 150 points in the last month alone but I know that mean nothing at all

Any advise or shall I just try again next month?
Good things come to those who wait...

I doubt it specifically states your score is low.

Moreso that you're just not eligible.

I tried QuickCheck and can confirm that it does say your credit score is too low.

That won't be referring to your score rather their own internal scoring system

Well I was pre-approved. Then it was cancelled by the fraud team!

So I have a complaint in progress and the clowns text (my work number, which is on call phone so woke me up) at 3am to ask for my view on their customer service. So that'll be another complaint going in....

I think they've been reading this thread.... first they fix the code so can't see limits etc, now they're not giving me my low limit 2nd card so I can't transfer from one to the other.

Sadly for them, "Apply now and we'll say yes" means exactly that.... and the FOS will take a dim view when I escalate it! If it was genuine suspicion of fraud they're not allowed to disclose ("tipping off" rules) so they're clearly just taking the Michael now.....

Might have misunderstood..but are you saying if you have the 100% accepted offer..apply and are accepted, you have to be accepted..?

Only ask as i had a Cap1 card..£1000 limit but not used (paid off),looked at Balance Transfer card and was 100% pre approved..applied and obviously was accepted and then two weeks later after calling them was told sorry cant/wont offer the balance transfer card,so another Hard search for nothing gained.

Did put a complaint in,but its there money after all...so told them to shove the account i already held.

Well the only reasons it states otherwise is ID or Fraud issues - clearly ID isn't an issue as I owe them 4k. Fraud can have a very loose definition - for example some places (e.g. casinos) will include things like "bonus abuse" to be Fraud. In reality it's taking the p**s, or "gaming the system" but certainly not Fraud.

Of course Fraud can also be things like false name/address, fake employment details etc - but none of those apply to me.

So I think they've ruled it out for the former - "bonus" (introductory rate) abuse.

They finally responded today to say they take my concerns seriously blah blah blah, we'll be in touch.

If they don't want people to have 2 cards, they shouldn't offer a second (e.g. Vanquis will outright decline if you hold 1), let alone "pre-approve" you for a second!!!

Even if they are technically correct to withdraw the application on subsection whatever of their T&Cs, it could be deemed misleading - so I'll go to the FOS (£550 charge for Cap1) and also the ASA because they advertise about their pre-approval on TV. If there are circumstances (other than ID or fraud) where it can be withdrawn, then their adverts are misleading.

Luckily, I should get a nice bonus from work just in time of the original expiry date, so can pay the card down - but it's the principle of the decline that's upset me so I'll be following it through
