Time limits on devices eg TV / Amazon Fire / Laptop

Options
Morning all, have just RJ45 hardwired all rooms in renovated house & currently fitting 2016 Panasonic smart TV's and the normal PC clutter...laptops, tablets & smartphones. All working a treat...in fact too well.

I need to setup some limits to usage for kids...not so much worried about internet filtering but physically stopping devices working at a certain agreed time e.g 8.30pm.

Laptops & desktop PC's I know how to do but I need a way to switch off access to the following devices:

Panasonic TV x 3
Amazon Fire TV x 3
Freesat HDR 1100s
Iphones
Android tablets x 2

ISP is Sky and we have a Sky hub which is new to me.

I know on my Linksys router we can set time limits for specific devices by address.....not sure if the Sky Hub does that?

Or is there another device I can fit after the Sky hub that could do this for me? i.e at a certain time, switches internet access off to the Fire TV, Freesat etc?

Would appreciate any advice how to achieve cut off on those devices mentioned above.....very open to any ideas and approaches ... software, hardware etc.

If that works for you mchale then you have your life in far better control than my daughter has!!! :) .... I admire the control you have.

I was thinking more to get one of those whistle's that captain von trapp has in the Sound of Music :)

    Take the device off them.

Yeah it's a way to go, I'll unbolt the 32" TV's off the walls each day at around 7.00 :)

No like I said earlier, laptops and the like are no great problem....most likely tablets as well....plenty of options.....but TV's and TV related boxes....a little more challenging.

Ask on the Sky help forum? Most ISP routers are rebranded generic models so should be capable of something basic like this.

    This ^^

Why are people so afraid of taking control of their unruly spawn these days?

With technology there's always to be a way around it, so at best your just giving yourself a false sense of security.

They'll just access t'internet through their smartphones if the WiFi doesn't allow them access. Which you are no doubt paying for if bedtime is 8:30pm. :)

The SMART TV's can have sleep timers - If you need more security/control with these you need to sideload apps. This tends to void your warranty.

With the iphone and android yeah sure you have family safety apps that can lock at certain times.

Sky have a "family" feature to restrict content. But I've never messed around with one of their hubs (yet) to see if it does time restrictions.

Turn off the router, nope tha wont work they piggy back on the neighours wifi. Lets get a bit more scientific take out the fuses / rcds from the consumer unit, but first find the candles, that wont work you can't watch tv
Either and your beers or wine will get warm.
OK lets try send the kids to grandmas let her worry, because its too late to wish you never had any. There is not a technical solution that been invented yet, and most intelligent kids would find a workaround within 2 minutes.
