Faulty Macerator pump

We purchased online on 1st October 2015 a 3 in 1 Macerator pump for a washing machine in a cellar.
It has now burnt out the motor.
Under the new consumer act 2015, can i ask for a refund?
It does say that
You're entitled to a full or partial refund instead of a repair or replacement if any of the following are true
"if a repair or replacement would cause you significant inconvenience"
It is in our rented house.
The company is saying that they will just send off for a repair
It has now burnt out the motor.

Are they the manufacturer or the seller?0 -

If the purchase was made for a house that you rent out then the Consumer rights act doesn't apply as you didn't purchase as a consumer.
Because of this, the retailer is perfectly entitled to offer a repair as you can't use the fact that the washing machine is in a rental property as a reason for significant inconvenience.0 -

Ok thanks for that.
It has a 3yr guarantee with it, but the sales team are saying it needs to meet their warranty terms. Needs to be cleaned and sanitised regularly.
We did not receive any terms and conditions. Just an email confirming order/despatch etcLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

It is a house we rent out.
The problem now is, we should have adhered to terms if warranty. There are none listed on website or with product. I have asked for them to supply themLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
It sounds like the motor burned out because the macerator was blocked. That's unlikely to be down to a manufacturing fault.
All such items need to be regularly cleaned and maintained. I'm not sure your claim that no instructions were included with the item will "hold water"in these circumstances
If you had no instructions, then how did you fit it?0 -

The only 2page booklet that came with it were fitting instructions, no instructions for cleaning. How often should they be cleaned? Couldn't find any info onlineLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
No wonder you can't find anything online. Why do you have a macerator pump designed to pump waste from a toilet attached to a WASHING machine ?northwest1965 wrote: »We purchased online on 1st October 2015 a 3 in 1 Macerator pump for a washing machine in a cellar.
Plenty of links about macerator maintenance, but all about toilets:

Who said it was attached to a toilet???
It is in the cellar of a house used for pumping the washing machine water and it was recommended for the job by the company. This is what we have

As you will see it has a 3 year guarantee. There are no terms for the guarantee and no instructions for cleaning or how often.
I don't buy the fact that we should know how often it has to be cleaned. It seems funny I keep asking on a daily basis for the warranty terms and they cannot supply them.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0
