Hi everyone
Lovely and sunny here but quite windy....though I do live on top of a hill!
Been into town this morning for a few bits. Posted a parcel to eldest DD in Holland...strange assortment of Cadburys chocolate, cereal bars, Haribo...then I had to add insoles and bonjela to it this morning. One of her wisdom teeth is coming through and bothering her and she couldn't find anything that looked like bonjela!
I was meant to go to dentist this morning but had a phone call to say he was off sick. The first appointment I could get was 14th September and theres no way the crown he was going to fix is going to stay in till then....its very wobbly!
Got a few jobs to do then might have a sit in the sun if its not too windy.
Watched Sunday's Victoria last night...was a little confused...who was Flora?0 -
Lady Flora Hastings, she was very friendly with Victoria's mother and Victoria didn't get on with her mother as she tried to interfere too much.Chin up, Titus out.0

DP1 if you google Queen Victoria you will find out about her, including her mothers relationship with Sir John Conroy. He had aspirations of setting up a Regency so that he and Victoria's mother could control what went on. Victoria's marriage to Prince Albert put a lot of people's noses out of joint. The series looks like being fascinating.0

Oh....at the beginning I thought Flora was Sir John's daughter. You're right, it's really interesting. I always enjoyed history at school,,,a while ago!...but don't remember learning anything about Victoria.0

I'm sure you will soon get to know us all. Best of all there is no nastiness in this particular forum site we all seem to rub along quite well.Having been hounded off a so-called lupus support site because I'm Pagan, I've been wary of joining online forums (fora?) ever since. But Old Style is just great. :T

That is awful  I am really cross on your behalf. It is much more their loss than yours but I doubt they are bright enough to realise it."This site is addictive!"

Well, that's a turn up for the books!
As soon as I got to work I asked for a meeting with finance manager, handed him my letter and explained reasons behind the move. He then went on to ask if they got a temp in to cover the role whilst I was away would I consider coming back when I was ready? Did say would think about it but had reservations about the role anyway. He then went on to tell me that toxic supervisor had resigned following a big bust up in the office on Friday  apparently she had a loud argument with another member of staff, then started effing and blinding in the office so was slapped with an official warning which prompted her to walk out! Have since been told that she did this last year and the MD begged her to come back. TBH cannot imagine anything worse than going back to that place, think I am well out of that particular situation but do feel bad for my manager, he must wonder what he's let himself in for
Tell you, couldn't make it up xx
Sorry, welcome dp1, this is a lovely thread0 -
Have just done my usual quick scan through the thread and was brought up short by LW's post.
How dare anyone treat you like that LW.
OK, your beliefs (or unbeliefs) are not mine but I would no more expect you to bow to my way of thinking than you, I'm sure, would expect me to adopt yours. I respect you as a thoroughly decent human being and I hope you get a similar impression of me, though if you don't you are civilised enough not to make it obvious.
Isn't life difficult enough without stirring up unnecessary trouble?
Wouldn't life be unbearably grey, tedious and boring if we were all the same?
Vivre la difference!
In any case, someone who has such an empathic connection to the dogs in her care is an OK, A1, general good egg in my estimation.
You are all right. This is a brilliant thread.
