Good Afternoon Diary,
Despite my earlier plans for a nice run if NSD's, my memory and now my health have worked to scupper them!
Yesterday it was off to the Vets with our puppy for a booster injection, while I was there I picked up his worming tablets. Leaving the Vets having spent £18.09, yet needing to buy some special shampoo for his dry skin with a £21.98 spend online later for that and some dry skin balm.
One saving grace was I pre-prepped dinner before I left, meaning we just had to put it on the BBQ when we got back
we had Lamb steaks and potatoes roasted on the grill, only took 30 minutes and it was delicious. In times gone by, we would have spend £15 on a takeaway.
Late last night in a bid to get myself well, I was researching healthy soup recipes which led to me spending £39.63 on Ab@l & C@le. All I did was Google fresh turmeric and it was like going down the rabbit hole! I went back and forth - my basket was at one point on £67
I should know better that to make late night purchases when I tired. Yet today when I woke up, I was thankful to have a box of organic chicken, veggies, fruit and honey on their way. I'm lucky to be able to have room in my budget, I'll be making a batch of chicken soup when it arrives tomorrow.
Today I went to the Doctor as I still can't shake this illness, it's been a tough year for me with illness, thankfully nothing serious but it's impacted my life nonetheless. Work have been fantastic and I've had every support I've needed, I just feel so guilty when I'm off. The Doctor has ordered further blood tests and given me 4 weeks off  so I'm trying to relax and get myself well.
Despite feeling grotty I took the bus to my appointment, saving money on a taxi which would usually be £16-ish return fare vs £5.10 for the bus. After dragging myself round quickly to make the return bus, I ended up getting on the wrong bus
there's a subtle difference in the destination of my bus and another. So had to get a cab home at £4.70, again I'm thankful to have a mobile phone to book a taxi and room in the budget to pay for it.
Whilst waiting for my taxi, I noticed toothpaste was on offer in a store window 69p for 100ml, 31p cheaper than the supermarket. I went in and got 6, 2 shower gels, hand soap and a deodorant. Leaving the shop having spent £8.52, before I left the house I told myself I wouldn't buy anything!
Yet - on reflection, things could've been much worse spends wise! When I'm feeling ill I know I've got a tendency to buy stuff to make me better, healthy food, candles, chocolate etc. I've spent more than I would've liked to, yet I've stopped myself from spending without a thought and for that I'm grateful.
We're having dinner from the freezer - Salmon with veggies
later on we'll be giving our puppy a bath with his new shampoo, should be fun!
Hope you're all having a fab day

You haven't been well. I'm glad you got the A & C food. It will do you good. You can get their chicken carcasses for soup. They make brilliant soup and cheap too.

Thank you for your kind words DIA - I didn't know they did chicken carcasses, I'll have to get one next time I shop there
I'm going to see if I can work a fruit and veg box into our budget, it will be only me who eats it as my OH is not a fan. 0 -
I used to have a weekly box when I wasn't very MSE and before my debt journey. I had to cancel it. Now the budget is a smidgeon looser I have reintroduced it once a month and I really appreciate it. I love the organic chicken carcasses for soup and stock and I get a box of veggies. When I am debt free I will have it again but this time once a fortnight. Morning Diary,
The weather is a little strange at the moment, like living in a greenhouse - you've got to love the great British weather
I managed to get plenty of rest yesterday afternoon, which helped me feel a little better. My Ab@l & C@le order arrived and was £2.32 cheaper than I expected
So for the princely sum of £37.31 I've got
4 Chicken breasts
1kg Apples
8 Lemons
3 bulbs of Garlic
150g Blackberries
100g fresh Turmeric
30g Coriander
A bottle of Tamari soy sauce
A jar of wildflower Honey
A tub of half fat Creme Fraiche
I know organic is more expensive, so I've worked it around my budget and despite buying toiletries yesterday too - I'll still come in on budget for the month for groceries. I'm going to go with DIA's excellent plan of getting a organic delivery once a month.
Today I'll be making some chicken soup using the chicken, garlic, coriander, turmeric, and soy sauce. I've already got ginger, chilli and organic chicken stock
it's got all sorts of immune boosting goodness and I'm looking forward to trying it.
I've had one of the apples, it was crisp, fresh and a little sour - just how I like them. I'm about to make some honey and lemon tea and I'll have the blackberries with creme fraiche as a little dessert tonight.
I'm going to fill my body with as many nutrients and healthy foods as I can and get myself better. I'm sure it will appreciate all the natural goodness after the much needed but havoc causing Antibiotics.
I've been eating dry toast, porridge, bananas and biscuits for the last couple of weeks when usually I eat pretty low carb, so my body is ready for some fresh fruit and veggies
Hope you're all having a great day
