Loving my frozen bananas by the way!!!
Just as well!0 -
I had a great week cooking for my vegan SIL - I usually cater for a veggie and a hi-protein low carber so veganism is the leveller!!
Learnt something new as well! Did you know Bird's Eye Instant custard in the tub is vegan:T:T
Autumn fruit crumble with porridge oat topping and a splodge of hot custard:)
Cheap and filling!!
Going back to veganism was a lot easier this time and I saved on the food bill overall!0 -

I've made this without the egg as a vegan roast dinner centerpiece and it went down well with vegans/non-vegan guests! Very filling and 'meaty' enough for committed carnivores with all the nuts/mushrooms.
Not sure if ready made puff pastry has been discussed in the thread already (didn't read all 8 pages ) but it's usually vegan so opens up a world of tarts/pies etc.
I just brushed a little oil over it instead of the egg wash but the internet suggests soy milk with a little sugar to get a really shiny finish.Debt Free since 26/08/2016 :j

Wow thanks oldmothertucker! V happy about the custard!!! I've got loads of apples in the freezer for crumbles!
Blu3sky, thank you for the recipe!! Perfect for Sunday's! I'll try that next weekend! I love pies too, going To have a go at making pastry with vitalite and see how I get on......
Well last night was our first hm pizza night. And it went really well! It felt like a real treat to have pizza, DVD and pink lemonade. Although my one failure was icecream. Nobody but Roo liked my frozen blackberry nicecream. OH said the look of it put him off!! It was bright purple but then so are blackberries!!!!! Will try banana icecream next time. I used nutritional yeast and BBQ sauce on my pizza, was yummy!
Having a vegan curry fake-away tonight. Going to make kale pakoras and onion bhagis, butternut Rojan josh with corriander rice, chapatis and popadums. Looking forward to it, super cheap too, as kale is on offer and using value everything. Popadums are on offer, and I can make chapatis with my huge bulk of flour! Will let you know the recipes later, when I've worked them out.0 -
Wahooo I have actually cooked the best vegan curry and chapatis! oH liked them!!! Result! Recipe tomorrow!0

I used Jamie's ministry of food book, and used his tikka masala curry paste, then I delved in the fridge found a butternut squash and cauliflower that were about a month old but still ok in the fridge, along with some spinach and sweet potato, my chapatis turned ok well too, just flour and water, worked out our Indian 'take away' cost £1.70 each, not the cheapest, and some of that was on poppadums which were 45p for both of us, which we didn't have to have. Really pleased with it, it was honestly the best curry I've had in a long time!!! Good old Jamie! I'll see if I can find a link.0

Just been out for lunch and had the crappest roast dinner ever! Yuk! Nut roast bleeeuuugghhh. Should have stayed at home and cooked, despite FIL paying. Does anyone know of any good vegan Yorkshire recipes??
Ok we think OH is keeping his job, yaaaay! As he didn't get the phone call, although it could possibly still come, it's unlikely.... Due to starting 2 days at work this week and both children at nursery and school at different times, time has been tight to do anything. I've learned that I think I could survive on £136, but I'm going to push the bed get very slightly to £150, to add a couple of things to make my life easier. Have added in some new recipes into my menu planner too. Happy with pizza night and curry night though, nice cheap way to spend time together at the weekend.
Will post new lists.0 -

We've been moving into the realm of student grub as Tucker Minor is off to Uni next week :T:T She'd like to be totally vegan again one day!:T:T
I've found a number of staples and treats that are 'accidentally' vegan - Google is your friend!!

I'm not kidding myself that she's going to have the time or energy to cook from scratch all the time so it's handy knowing what 'Go' food is vegan!!0
