Windows 7 computer problems, mainly updating issues

Nifty Digits, thank you for the above. I think all that is a long way ahead yet unfortunately.
Tried to download the image last night. Started at 9pm and it was still going at 2am - around 4.6gb. I checked it about 6am and it was showing 0.0 but only IE appeared in my downloads?
Checking just now, it appears to have downloaded the image file 6.5gb.
I have gone back to your first link to carry out the CRC SHA check to see if it has all downloaded correctly BUT the page is only displaying about a third of the text vertically and I cannot see the link required to do this? (It's like the page has been sliced vertically?).
It is only on that webpage (so far), this site is fine?
I will try and sort out a flashdrive for the next step, if I get that far!
To what page are you referring?
For the check you need: http://www.7-zip.org
Once installed, you right click on the downloaded image
Compare against the image that you have downloaded.0 -
NiftyDigits: Thank you for that 7-zip link, that was the one I was after but could no longer see correctly in your 'look here' link.
Have just done it now but knew it would be wrong as the image folder said 'part file' next to it.
The checksum results are different from the above Home Premium SP2 x64 picture above. Mine is only 6672mb.
I don't know if it was because my computer shut down in the night - it was locked and I had to put my password back in. The download bar was empty (not green like before) and said 0.0 bytes or something.
Perhaps I should have waited for the download bar to disappear altogether and for it to display some sort of message?
I will have to do it again, obviously. Before I begin, do I need to go into downloads, right click the image folder and IE 11 folder and click on delete?
I don't suppose it just carries on from where it left off?
It will probably take 9-10 hours, my internet is not fast - not on fibre.

I don't know why you have two folders....or any for that matter.
If you don't have an option to resume the download, you'll have to start it again. Do you have enough space on your hard drive?
2MB/s Internet?0 -
Thanks. I've got 539gb on my hard-drive as put nothing back on this computer yet, until it is sorted properly.
I downloaded the image from the Google Drive link you posted, the 64 bit SP2 IE11 one. It doesn't say on there how it loads or anything, just says Folders and two options to click on.
I think my broadband speed is usually around 3.5 - not very good I knowso I think I need to start it now, and hopefully finish before bedtime, ha!
Do you know if it will matter if I click to download it again without removing the folders on my computer first? (I don't want to remove them if it just carries on but there is no indication until I go ahead and click on it, if you see what I mean).
I REALLY appreciate your help and time with this.0 -

Yours is the first link "Windows 7 Home Premium SP2 x64 USB3.0D.iso" 6.9GB
Leave everything as it is until you have completed the download and created the bootable USB Flash drive.0 -
Yes, that is the one I have selected. Started the download again about 4.20pm and checked about 45 mins. later it was up to 1gb. Just checked now and my computer was off and locked and I had to log in again.
The download was showing as Failed at 17.17pm. AAARRGGHHH!
Not sure whether to try again now as it looks like I will have to keep checking it every half hour.
Think I'm going to change my username to i8technology!0 -
I'm clicking on your Google Drive link, then on the 64 Bit SP2 IE11 folder on the right hand side.
I then get the following page,
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7uwifuW-47rZzg4WlZ3V1E0eWM
and select the 7 Home Premium SP2 x64 USB 3.0 June 2016.iso on the left hand side.0 -
Click on the chargiong/battery icon in the bottom right hand corner and in to Power Options and set your PC to never shut down.0

Just found the Power Plan in Hardware and changed the 'put the computer to sleep option' to never (it was set at 2 hours). Hopefully that will enable it to download properly this time.0

Oops, Nifty Digits - didn't see your post until after mine as I was searching for a solution.
Thanks
Might just set it off again now, though I don't like to leave things running too long, or overnight0
