I have a deposit why are you assuming I don't? I don't know why this has become about my personal financial situation. I don't want financial advise from you. I have a financial advisor. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I am well aware of the consequence of the choice I made. The choice I made, however, was based on repeated lies. I have no way of going back now and changing what I did. Obviously if I could, I would. What I need now is to know if a) British Gas can be held responsible for the result of their lies and b) if this mark can be removed. If you genuinely know the answer to either of those then marvellous, do share! I don't see how your comments are helping my situation? But then that is quite clearly not your intent.

It may be easier if you quote the posts you're responding to. This is all very confusing.

I only joined this site yesterday I didn't know how to do that.

I'm not giving you financial advice I'm giving you my opinion about your financial situation based on the information you have provided.

You keep contradicting yourself. You said you couldn't pay the £200 in one go because it would take money away from matched betting and promoting your books.
Well if you have a deposit then you could have used that money to pay for the £200 bill and it wouldn't have affected your cashflow.

So why didn't you use some of your deposit money to pay for the bill?.

The root cause of the problem is that you paid a bill in installments that should have been paid in full using either your funds from matched betting or your deposit.
You don't seem to realise the mistake you have made so if we don't tell you then how will you know not to make it again in the future.

The blue button that says quote, it's on every post, other forums have a similar option.

Had I known the implications of paying in instalments I would not have, however I did not due to the fact that I was lied to.

I didn't say I could not pay the bill in one go, I could have done very easily but I wanted to utilise the extended payment terms. I was lead to believe that this was not classed as being in arrears. I am an accountant, I manage the accounts of 2 companies very successfully. With respect, I know a lot more about how to manage cashflow than you do. I don't need your advise on how to keep a healthy bank balance I am very capable of doing that myself and though I thank you for your concern,my bank balance is fine. It is always good practice to use suppliers terms to their full advantage, be it a company's supplier or personal. As I say British Gas lead me to believe that I was being offered 90 day payment terms rather than being in arrears. I did not miss any payment, my account was referred BEFORE the 1st DD was due to be taken.

I don't want your opinion, you clearly don't know the answers to my questions so what are you trying to do? You are being very rude and patronising.

I have asked 2 very specific questions none of which warrant your invasive questioning on my personal financial situation. If you don't know the answer, that is fine. I don't ned your every thought.

I don't think that is true. Suppliers prefer Customers who pay their debts promptly, regardless of the standard terms. There are many suppliers who will offer better terms to Customers who are prompt payers. Even if there are no formal improved terms then it improves relationship with the supplier, particularly small Businesses, to pay promptly.

Maximising use of payment terms is a narrow short-term accounting view. Large Corporates inflating their cash flow at suppliers expense is one of the reasons perfectly decent small businesses fail. It is not good practice in the long term.

I am having a discussion with you on a public forum about your finances. What did you expect to happen when you posted on here? We arnt being paid so we don't have to answer your specific questions!. Also I hardly think talking about your fiancial situation is invasive considering this discussion is anonymous and you areally under no obligation to provide any information at all!.

I am simply giving to information that may help you in the future financially. One minute your saying that all your money goes into matched betting and promoting your book, so could not have paid the bill in full. The next minute you are saying that you have a deposit saved up, if so why didn't you use that to pay the bill?.

You may think I sound rude and patronising but if you cannot pay a small and expected £200 bill in full when required you are really going to struggle to maintain two houses!. I strongly suggest that you review your finances before comitting to buy a second house.

So I may not be answering your specific questions but based on what you have said my advice is much more worthwhile to you.
