Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm trying to find a cheap TV provider too and want to keep my cheap broadband deal from SKY. So is it right I'd have to buy a Now TV and then I'd be able to watch their programmes using my internet and have no subscription fee?
There are two Now TV boxes. One with Freeview HD and one without.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4590602.htm £19.99 without
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5449570.htm £34.99 with...but it requires an aerial to gain access to the Freeview channels.
Both with a six month subscription to their Entertainment channel.
One month offer to get you started
You cancel online or just add your voucher just before the month is up. Entertainment and Movies are separate passes. So don't neglect to cancel the Movies pass if you don't want to pay £9.99 per month once the month is up.
If the Entertainment Pass covers your needs, it might be cheaper to buy another box for £19.99 and use the voucher from that to extend another six months once the six/seven months are up.
You can give the other box to a relative and they can watch the Entertainment channels using your sign in details.
As an alternative, if you think that you would prefer to utilise their Movie channel, you can purchase their Now TV Freeview HD box with a four month movie pass here for £34.99
So with their one month free offer, you can get five months of movie access and of course unlimited Freeview HD(if your aerial is up to the Freeview access. If not, stick to the £19.99 box)0 -
With Now TV, you don't have to worry about recording programmes. Episodes of ongoing series are available on catch up for the sky channels for up to a month after broadcast, plus they have a back catalogue which come and go - most have a date on saying when they will go. I have noticed that not all the channels included on Now TV, have their programmes on the catch up but it appears all the sky ones do. GOT was available on catch up, plus the previous series were all their to watch, last time I looked.
Main advantages of Now Tv - there's lots of offers around for free passes, and you basically only sign up for a month at a time, so you cancel when you want.0
