The question was fibre to the house >>>new house new build?? Known as Fibre to the premises FTTP.Or the more common fibre to the roadside cabinet and copper wire to the premises . FTTC . The later is the norm and may have no connections left in the cabinet .

It would simply show as "waiting list" on the dsl checker.

The checker has no records for the property.
  • Thank you everyone for the comments. Your responses have made me hopeful that if we move in and get a BT phone line in place we could find that we are then able to get fibre over BT lines. As someone else said, it's not a new house, it's over 100 years old but I think the previous owners may have had Virgin for quite a while.

SImple answer is ring BT up or someone who you want to start a contract with and ask.

Why on early you want to start a 12/18month phone contract, and then try and get fibre I don't know.
It won't be cost effective or sensible.

We've already spoken to Talk Talk and they just say they can't provide fibre to the address. I hadn't appreciated that just getting a phone line would require a contract though.
