Ticket machine produced a "spurious" ticket ?

Hi All, I'm fairly familiar with this forum as I fought a parking company last year for a long time and spent hours on here creating a defense after my valid ticket had blown off the dashboard. (didnt get to court but thats a different story) - I only mention this to show that I have spent hours trawling and am not a complete NEWBIE.
The reason I return today is ive just received a new PCN (i'll reveal the place and company later if necessary but I know they watch these forums) for an alleged parking offence and I wanted to see if anyone could shed a light on this one and if anyone had also encountered this.
I parked in a private carpark (btw - no signs up anywhere other than the entrance - but we may use that later)
I bought a ticket for the whole day.
I displayed the ticket on the dash board
When I returned to the car, well within the allotted time, the ticket was still on display. BUT i had a PCN (failure to display a valid ticket)
I checked the ticket again and it stated time of arrival , expiry time , date etc and all were correct. BUT when I compared it to other tickets on other cars , the ticket machine had printed mine off differently. It had "sweden" printed on the top (despite the car park being in England)
It had "not valid" printed at the bottom. Something I had not noticed when I purchased the ticket.
I had purchased another ticket for this machine earlier in the day and that was fine.
The machine had not refunded the money
So I had purchased a ticket and displayed it correctly. It seems the machine had printed an invalid ticket.
How do I stand ?
So far I've emailed the company enclosing a photo of the ticket. I've not disclosed the drivers name or given my address.
I'm prepared to goto court but I would have though I wouldnt need a complicated defence as I've done nothing wrong ?
Please help

Indeed Pappa Golf certainly need the named of the parking company to tailor any suitable advice and if this was in E&W.
However certainly the poster needs to clarify a couple of points:
He claims to have purchased a ticket earlier in the day from same machine which was fine and that he had bought an all day ticket. So why buy another one??infinite_improbability wrote: »

My advice, and I am sure most would disagree, is to explain to them what happened, and then blank them unless/until they issue a claim. Go to court and tell the truth. No mention of signs, contract etc., just the word of a fine upstanding citizen against a scammer.
When you win, you are in a good position to make them pay through the nose for their hubris. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Well thats what I was hoping to hear. I spent hours and hours on the previous appeal against another company producing very long winded claims against them of 12 pages plus as to how they had breached IPC regs, insufficient signage etc etc and in the end I wondered if it was all worth it (especially as they offered me a £25 get out.
But this one, as far as I can see, I'm completely in the right.
So the next question. What rate do you think it is acceptable to bill them for my time and at what point do I start invoicing ?0 -
invoice after winning case and spending time on it , I think the max is £18 or £19 per hour plus stationary , but you will (or may be) asked to prove this time and if necessary you will have to start a CC claim against themSave a Rachael

Did your "spurious" ticket have a VAT Number on it?0

But you may also be able to prove "unreasonable behaviour" under CPR27.14(2)(g), when you could try for the jackpot. Judges take dim view of people who waste the court's time.
