Bose Mini 2 question for techie luddite :-)

Hi all
I was out with friends over the weekend and they were using speakers to play music, they tell me it was a Bose Mini 2.
I would love to get one but I'm really not technical and still use CD's. I don't use smartphones as yet, but a friend is going to help me at some point.
Anyone know whether it's possible to link up CD's to these speakers as I really would like to get them, or does anyone know of something equally as good that might still allow you to link up CD's?
I'm not technical at all, i use a mobile phone but an old one, don't understand smart phones, just about able to use a tablet purely for photos, so be helpful if you bear that in mind when suggesting things, lol, thanks! :-)

The Bose Mini 2 is a Bluetooth speaker. In a nutshell it's basically a wireless receiver if you like.
Any device with Bluetooth should work with them, or you can buy Bluetooth adapters fairly cheaply to add it to a computer or laptop, so you can play your CDs through the computer or music from your phone if it has Bluetooth already. In a nutshell you just pair your Bluetooth device up with the Bluetooth speakers and Bob's your Uncle.
They are quite expensive though, but other Bluetooth speakers that work along the same lines are available:

Yes, basically you need a device such as this one ...
https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Wireless-Stereo-Adapter-Transmitter/dp/B00N1R7W9Q/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1471260884&sr=8-13&keywords=bluetooth+audio+transmitter
(others are available, this is just an example)
You plug it into the headphone socket of your CD player and it transmitts to the bluetooth speakers.
Hope this helps

So a portable CD player won't work with them, is there any kind of portable CD player with bluetooth that would work with them? Sorry if this is a really daft question lol0 -

Any CD player? I'm seriously untechnical, I have a portable CD player and know nothing about bluetooth, lol. I've got mates that could help but I've never got time to sit down with them and I cannot concentrate on stuff very well. The extent of my knowledge is to plug in speakers to a CD player but I really would like good ones and something that gives sound like the Bose Mini II
Thanks for taking the time to reply :-)0 -
Your portable CD player has a headphone socket, you plug a wireless/bluetooth transmitter into that socket. When you get bluetooth speakers you turn on the speakers then the bluetooth transmitter. The speakers bleep and the transmitter has a light on it that flashes between red and blue, once the connection is made between the two the speaker changes the bleeping sound to indicate the link is made then you can play your CD's through the speaker0

Is there one you'd recommend from Amazon UK, because that one won't ship to me or my friend's address? Thanks0

Thanks, my brain finally got that bit, lol, but now I'm having a problem trying to buy one from amazon.com as they cannot ship to my address and there's no point offered for me to collect....so looking for something similar from amazon uk if anyone can help. I need this for saturday...kinda roped myself into promising to provide music, lol what am I like0 -
Any bluetooth speaker on Amazon.uk will do the job it is just that Bose and Sonos are by far a better sound quality but you pay for quality.
Read reviews on the Amazon.uk website for other makes if it does what you want and use express delivery to get delivery this week :0)
Good luck and enjoy :0)0 -
A few weeks back I got these for use in my"man cave", not bad for the price. Perhaps they might be what you could try :0)

DD2 got this for her birthday earlier this year - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00UQRZYGC It was £84.99 back then. She loves it. (She uses her phone as the player).
Edit: To make it clear, this is as an alternative to the Bose Mini 2. For connecting your portable CD player (i.e. making it Bluetooth enabled) see Andy's post below or other similar posts in this thread.0
