Automatic gearbox no reverse

It is possible, have see no ever cars with this issue when I ran a garage. And one Astra that had it done to it by Make Ready using one of the Astras to go between stations.
It usually happens at low speed, and no it doesn't have to be more than a couple of MPH.
Some cars are more prone to it than others. Just depends how strong the teeth are on the gear I suppose.
It would make a noise if some teeth were present I suspect but once the teeth a gone it doesn't make a noise.
I don't know if the C'eed box is prone to it.
All the vehicles I have seen with this failure have been FwD
I don't know enough about Autoboxes to explain it better I'm afraid.
Have you been drinking?0 -
Just been out to try again to see if it will move. To put the car in to reverse you have to put the brake pedal all the way down before it will shift in to reverse. When you shift it in it lurches a bit like you would expect but doesn't move. If you then hold the leaver towards N it fells like it wants to go but then pops out in to N. With the engine running you can push it if out of gear or in reverse. All the forward positions make the car start to pull forwards as expected, I don't really want to go anywhere to check it's working forwards as it was a nightmare getting it back on the drive yesterday.Nothing to see here, move along.0

No
Just because you haven't seen an Autobox broken in that way is nothing to do with me.
Though as you have said you are a retired Copper I can't really believe you haven't come across similar.0 -

I'm guessing that S-S asked about drinking simply because of the way your post is written rather than because of the technical content.
However many times I've read it, the first paragraph makes no sense whatsoever.0 -

Substitute "no end of" for "no ever" and then it does...0 -

Now you have had problems with your gear box, there is no going back.0
