DS4 is delighted with his haul of loot. He is wearing his hoody, playing his new ds game and planning on watching his new film tomorrow. We are going out for a chinese for supper. The boy is being spoilt as a Christmas birthday comes but once a year and then there are 363 days after Christmas to wait for another present haul.

I have booked for Paddington 2 at the local arthouse cinema at 1pm - 5 people for £30 can't be sniffed at - 0de0n worked out at over £60. DS1 is being a toad and does not want to go. So this time I have said fine, stay home then. I think there may be a ..... girl.. (shhhh) on the scene.

Cake is out of the oven and looking good. Ice cream disc is looking fab and I got not one, but two (!) squirty cream cans. Whoop whoop!

And H0mebase have just sent me an email about their sale starting today.
Cheap emulsion here I come!! I cannot wait to start decorating.

My bedroom ceiling is currently drying. I have just inflicted the second coat of paint on the bare plaster and it is looking flippin' good already. Think it will only need one more.

I took DS4 to the N3xt sale this morning as he was very excited to have a gift card (sil sent the wrong age pyjamas, after I had already told her I had just bought them all 2 new pairs each - I must have put the idea into her head talking about pjs and she got muddled). He LOVED the sale - I took him in early as we were both up and about and dressed, and half the house was still asleep. he HATED the queue for the till, but was so good about it. Must be all grown up now he is 8.

We were back home by 9.30. With 40 meters of xmas wrap for £1. Will go in the Cupboard of convenience for next year.

I think I will get my bedroom ceiling finished today, and then start moving the stuff back into there, and then wallpaper around it. DS2 has been very good about having our entire bedroom stored in his room for 7 days, but his patience is wearing thin now.

DS3 has a doughnut maker. He is making doughnuts now.

Spurs beat Southampton 5-2 and I got to watch the match on tv as I had 2 hours to kill between coats of paint !! It was almost as if I planned it.

Lunch was a tomato and red pepper soup that I made last night while waiting for the toad in t'hole to cook. Quick, easy and ridiculously tasty.

Supper is homemade pittas and hummus and salad and spicy potatoes. If there is any room after these doughnuts...........

I need to hang pictures, but realised I forgot to get picture hooks. I've now ordered them.

It is looking good though.

Tomorrow will be blind hanging in the bedroom, and first coating the top landing and stairs, and middle landing. After that comes wallpapering my room.
Hopefully all to be completed by New Year.
All the boys are happy playing with what Santa brought them, too much time on the computers, which I do not like, but to be honest the weather is horrid here. Windy and rainy and cold. Not the weather for going out in unless you had animals to exercise or feed. And DH would not go out in it either.

I did the grocery shopping this morning in a lull in the rain, so we have provisions for the foreseeable. Maybe I can make a New Year resolution to get out and about more. DH got me a second hand satnav - not a Xmas present, just a 'sorry my kids left your car door/window open and got your satnav nicked' present. So there is no longer an excuse for me not to explore our local area. I really should play tourist. Even if the kids refuse to come with me.

The radiator in our bedroom has never worked properly. Only half of it warms up. I have been bleeding it regularly but never had any joy from it. I turned it up to full when I had finished painting the skirting boards, thinking it might encourage them to dry, and went onto the landing which was a little chilly so I turned up the thermostat on that radiator too, and there was this strange gurgling noise, and 10 minutes later my bedroom was toasty. I think a combination of bleeding them regularly and messing with the thermostat has dislodged whatever it was that was causing the problem. Was a very funny noise though.

One other thing off the list then.

Well done on the radiators... It's well worth running them ALL on full for a bit as that tends to push the air round/out. I had to do that when my heating was zoned and lots of the rads/pipework replaced in the summer of 2016. And it took us several hours to get the downstairs radiators behaving after the one in the loo was taken off and put back on again (we'd had to drain the downstairs circuit. It was a question of forcing the water into the misbehaving radiators. And then they had to be rebalanced...

I've made a start on putting kitchen stuff away - mostly because my mum wants me to take a couple of shelves back to hers and it makes sense to do it now rather than store them in the overcrowded garage for the next few weeks.

I've also ordered some blinds. And almost made a decision on doors. Must go and look at floor tiles... and hope the money doesn't run out before the builders finish!
