My builder-husband isn’t even working tomorrow as he needs a break! 😉
I think you are being quite hard on yourself. You’ve taken on a huge project with all the renovations and the amount of work you yourself are expecting to do. I think you are making huge progress. Perhaps cheer yourself up by calculating how much it would have cost if you’d paid someone else to do it all and not just the expected job, but also all the little snaggy detours and extra bits you will inevitably have had to do? 😊

List made for things to achieve today - DS3 is at Easter School for the last time this week - so I have an hour and a bit to wander about and see carpet man about lasts carpets for the top floor and stairs to middle floor.

Tomorrow is our eighth housiversary.
Today has been a good day. Carpets for the last top floor bedrooms will come in at just under £500 fitted. They are in stock, I just need to pick the colour. I have three samples. .Painted a ceiling, ripped up a carpet, took up some floorboards and there was not a sign of The Worm. Put the boards back, screwed down any loose ones . Gave the tops a coat of poison just in case a beetle tries to get in after I evict the ones from the middle floor. There is no welcoming space for them on the top floor now.
It is done.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Back to being insured!Decorated study room yesterday and today, so I can order carpets on Tuesday for fitting the same week. Will buy a desk top and 6 separate legs from The Swedish Store and so will get a 200x60cm desk for around £35, then will rejig cube style storage units and a bookshelf from various other rooms in the house to make a decent study for DH. It is all taking shape!'Middle Floor March' did not happen, but 'Middle Floor April' is looking very promising.Financial limbo as the Friday bank holiday stopped the boys' rents from coming in, and DH's Housekeeping contribution, and so until Tuesday when all the money comes in and all the bills go out, all I know is I have £70 left in the kitty and an £81 credit card bill because I bought a tyre on Thursday as my lovely mechanic told me to in (ahem!)) ... December actually. Well I finally managed to remember when I was going to work (next door to Hellfords) so dropped it in and got it done. Another job off the list.Just went out into the yard to peg out a washable mattress topper cover, and the mint is going bonkers, the fuchsia are all alive and resprouting frantically - they always look so dead and twiggy, and then they just come back to life. The dianthus have overwintered and hopefully I will be able to split the side shoots this year. I planted out the soaked sweet pea seeds at the back of the planters, they will either do something or they won't. It was a £shop £1 bargain packet. Nothing ventured, nothing... lost? Still not found my box of seeds! They will no doubt turn up eventually.Had a mini pantry clean up and found a surprise packet of dried butter beans. Now I have chickpeas in one bowl soaking and the butter beans in another bowl soaking. Supper will be a spinach and potato curry, with rice, far far, and mango chutney. We will make hummus tomorrow, and home made pittas. I have managed to clear 2 x 4 foot long shelves in the pantry. The stockpiles are definitely going down. The snacky nonsense is not being replaced, we have popcorn kernels instead. They have eaten all the nuts and dried fruit, so that is not being replaced unless it is for something on the menu plan. I am only buying cornflakes, branflakes, and wheat biscuits as breakfast cereal. The only bread being bought in is brown in nature. The hungry ghosts are just going to have to be disappointed.

Oooh, loving the ferocity of the hungry ghosts tactics … 😉😂
Yes, fuchsias ALWAYS look dead and then, you least expect it - ping, they are alive again! 😊 Hope your sweet peas have a better germination rate than mine - 50% failure here - most annoying as I only sowed one mixed packet this year … 🤷♀️
Is DH pleased with the plans for his new facilities or will he be oblivious until it’s all done?KKAs at 17.03.24:
