DS3  bailed on the plan to do his bedroom this weekend (I am revising Muhhm, you shouldn't be stressing me out! while playing on his idiotbox), and DS1 is dragging his heels on moving all  of his stuff over to the new room, so he is hogging TWO bedrooms! Well that stops on Monday, I will move his stuff in boxes and dump it in the new room if it is not done by tonight. Then I can move DS3 in there for a night or two while I sort his room out - see!  method!

As my plans were scuppered, I took up the middle two floorboards all along the landing on the middle floor, and sprayed for worm.  In the whole 6 meters, I found two holes that might have been worm, but anyway, all the joists and both sides of the floorboards have been sprayed and all the sawdust  and cr*p from when the house was rewired was removed from the void.  Nice and tidy under MY floorboards! 

Went to pick up DH last night, he sent a text with the arrival time,  I had been building some pizzas so  when I checked it and realised I had 15 minutes to get to him, I turned the oven down so the pizzas did not burn, and ran out the door with my keys and nothing else........ so I did not get his next text saying he had got the time wrong and would be half an hour later. So I sat in the car park at the station getting closer and closer to the 20 minute free limit, with no way of paying for anymore time, and no phone, and no DH appeared, so I turned the key in my car and got a THUD.....

so I made sure the lights were turned off, and the radio was turned off, and I turned the key again and got a THUD.....

so I swore at the car for a good 30 seconds - imagine losing a husband, and breaking the car, and getting a parking ticket, and not being able to ring anyone to help! so after my disgusting language, I turned the key one last time and it decided out of fear to judder to life, and I left and drove home,  and rang DH to find out where the flip he was, and he had been locked on the train because the door would not open, and was on the platform, so I told the kids to eat without us, got back in the car, which started first time, drove back, picked him up and dragged his sorry butt back home.  He is exhausted but had a good conference, and got to see his collaboration-friends so he is a happy bunny and full of excitement for his 'semester abroad'  next  month.

One more bedroom 90% sorted, will do the rest tomorrow.  On Friday  Mr Builder rocked up to look at the slipped tile on the roof.  It has taken him 6 weeks to come and look. He looked, he went away again.  Asked if someone was in on Saturday, and that he would message me.  No message, but had to do the 7am getting up thing just in case, anyway, he did not turn up. Grumpy and tired all day because of it.  Rehung DS1s fire door after sawing a chunk off the bottom of it so that it opened.   Cleaned, hoovered, laundered, and then lost the football in a horrific display of awfulness.  Bad mood continued ...

This morning I woke up sad.  I really think I am reverse-seasonally-affected.  I wake up when it gets light, so today started at 6.15.  Stupid light.  Roll on clocks going back in October!  They haven't even gone forward yet!

House insurance would have been £530, but because of DHs bike, which has been living in my bedroom for over 12 months, and has not even left the house, it got bumped up to £616.  I have told DH he is going to have to start riding the flippin thing again.  Ridiculous to spend over £80 insuring it if it is a 'house bike'. It was still £50 cheaper than the renewal quote I was sent.  Hopefully the cashback goes through as well.

We just had our 7 year anniversary of next-door being raided by the police and being abandoned. Was not sure how to celebrate.....

So this coming week should see the roof tile replaced, DS3's bedroom ready for a carpet, and turning bedroom number 6 into the study, ready for carpets next month - my credit card bill is HUGE (for me) because of the house insurance and 2 carpets. Never mind, I can cover it from my easy access savings. It is not an every year expense, carpeting the house (well it had better not be!).

I keep telling myself that every job I do myself is one step closer to two very nice bathrooms appearing in my house. Current budget for that is £6k saved.

Commiserations shared about the football - we are Liverpool supporters. This weekend was a bad showing for the FA cup.

Third bedroom this year is painted and ready for a new carpet.  Started on  emptying out the non-resident bedroom (number 4) this morning. Because DS1 kept it like a squat, it seems to be infested with moths. Have given the carpet it a flippin' good hoover, and used some free-via-survey-money to buy cedar balls off Amaz0n.  Was really cross with DS1 but could not be faffed with a confrontation, so went off volunteering and did my thing. That much I can control. I pick my battles. The carpet is due for ripping up anyway. The moths will not like bare floorboards and no clothing in there. Hooray for the man who invented the hoover.

Supper tonight is fridge scrap pizzas,   DH has bought a big wheelie suitcase for his foreign adventure, he is so ridiculously excited it is hilarious, and very cute.

Flakey friend has bailed twice more on times we arranged, so she obviously has a lot on and I am not chasing her anymore.

Work has started on stripping out the next-door house where our nice neighbours lived (but never picked up their parcels we took in for them), and scaffold has gone up on the cannabis farmhouse to fix the roof. Seven years it has lain empty (according the my B00kface account).   It was raided in the first year we were here.   Such drama!  

So it is going to be a loud Spring with work going on, on both sides, at the same time.   So I do not need to feel guilty  when the bathroom gets done, or when the ground floor wall knocking downs start.  It will no doubt drive me insane, but at least we are all being noisy together.

Urgh, I have messed up.  Put the start date for the house insurance as the 30th instead of the 28th.. so we are going to be 48 hours without insurance from 00.01 on Thursday until midnight on Friday....   so today the people on the cannabis house side decided to take all the tiles off their roof.... - they obviously have not seen the weather forecast for the next couple of days.... Heavy rain, and 50 mph  winds here.  I wish they would stop pretending they were proper builders......

Rang the insurance people to ask if I could amend start date for insurance, nope, I would have to cancel the policy and take out a new one, that would be over £200 more expensive for exactly the same spec. nearly £900!!   I asked them for a 2 day policy, they don't do that.....  Hopefully the idiot builders will not go up onto the scaffold tomorrow in the  heavy rain, and it will be too windy on Thursday, and Friday is a bank holiday, and even pretend builders don't work on bank holiday weekends,   do they?

Planted some sweet pea seeds, pumpkin seeds, and courgette seeds in loo rolls and covered with a cloche made from a 5litre water bottle cut in half.   

Damp stain blocked a wall in the study where the dormer was leaking (behind the Marvel wallpaper) and that will be ready to paint over tomorrow.

I am making progress, really I am.  I can see it, and it will be even more visible by the end of these Easter holidays.  I just wish I was quicker at it.
