We have no idea where Dave came from!  We are a terraced house, and the next door house was an opium den  a cannabis farm and has been abandoned. with all its floorboards and internal doors in the back yard, so honestly he might have hopped the fence, but how did he get in???   or he could have come up the loo (screaming blue hair emoji time)!!!  I have failed in my quest to get the male members in my house to keep the flippin' lid +seat combo DOWN!!!  Mea Culpa, but I have still not given up.

Is your toilet seat soft close.  It was a game changer in this house as you only need to set it on its way rather than actually put it down.  My friend still doesn't close it even though it is close when he goes in.  What happened to leaving things as you found them.  You should have heard the crash when at a friends house & forgot it wasn't soft close.  Whoops!

Hi, is it possible that Dave has found a way in from next door via a space under the floor boards and a loose brick, maybe where utility pipes have been installed, old gas pipes etc. He does seem to be using those small gaps around plumbing pipes to get around the house. It might be worth contacting the council about the house next door and mentioning rats. 
ETA they are very rarely alone

Hi Foxholes, sending best wishes that Dave finds a new residence asap. I second calling the council, in our town they now offer free Dave eviction services (as we were getting a bit of an issue with them). 

Locally we had a colony of Daves living under some garages next to a large apple tree. It took the council a few weeks to get to the bottom of it and most of the neighbors got involved (apart from one chap who had been feeding Dave 😬). 

The council assigned us an brilliant expert in Daves, who very much appreciated and understood Daves and gave us all a lot of useful advice about how to discourage Daves from moving back in.

This is all sounding a bit Dave-ist !!

Although my own personal David chewed through the pipes to the sink and the shower - one fixed now, the other a mystery and may involve tackling from underneath - we have a spare bathroom so not a disaster but we have 6 adults and young adults in the queue!  So thanks a bunch Dave

Thank you all for commenting on your Dave Dilemmas, it makes me feel less alone with my Dave issues. I have never heard people talk about having one before.  Mice yes, Dave, never , well, unless it was a farm house.

DS2 heard Dave in the roof above the dining room last night, so DH went up in the cupboard(the one I put the trap in in the first place and was told I was a muppet by DH) and put the trap in there.  While he was in there, Dave decided he was in the way, and launched himself out of the chimney space,  jumped over his hand, and shot up  into the ceiling space/under the floorboards.  Dave is no longer in the downstairs bathroom. ??? He is flippin' genius.

Duly noted about the council. Thank you. Dave might need a support worker.  If it involves killing him, DH will not be onboard though.....

Urgh, DS4 just handed me his shopping list for his food tech TOMORROW MORNING.  Love it when they ask the vegans to send in chicken breasts and chorizo - no mention of substitutes - and of course I do not have any  of those, ys or otherwise, in the freezer this week.   DH was just about to put on his cape and tights and race down to the supermarket, when I suggested he did not leave the house without DS4, as after all, it was his homework, and his fault we are having to run around - he has had the list since Tuesday,  cue DS4 stomping off upstairs saying if we don't do his homework for him, then he will go in and tell his teacher he wasn't allowed to do it.

 Idiot came downstairs 5 minutes later with his shoes on like nothing had been said.     Sometimes it is really hard to like them.    Who the heck do they think they are???  The cost of living crisis has not changed  the food tech recipes, I  know, as this is the 4th time I have had to suffer flippin' Jamba-bloody-laya.
