Good day today, took DS1 out and got him plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, cutlery, slotted spoon, sieve/colander, chopping board and knives, tin opener, vegetable sharpener, tiny grater, and a shirt, DS3 got 4 books, and DS4 got a very nearly brand new pair of trainers in the next size up. They still have not tried on their PE kit that arrived on Thursday - I fear I might have to threaten to withhold food until they dress up for me.About 3 years ago I rescued nearly brand new pots and pans and steamer things from step gran who had decided they were not needed and had bought herself nearly identical ones to replace them, and threw all these into a box and told me to take them to the tip - they came home with me instead. Now they are going to DS1 to use, and he is delighted. They really do look like they have been used for a week. It has saved me a fair whack of money - he only needs a frying pan now.In a fine display of one-up-manship, DH gave him a laptop. So I gave DH a metal Italian coffee pot thing for him to make coffee when he is camping - it looks like this (but more of a Bianchi Celeste) without the branding and cost less than £2
Sadly his camping trip in a fortnight got cancelled last week. Probably quite wise as quite a lot of the people going have tested positive for Covid after going to a small festival last weekend.
In other news, the uni have said it is face to face teaching up until 10% of students or staff test positive, and by the way there is no formal request to test. It is up to you. Bof!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

That's the type of coffee pot we use when we go camping. They are brilliant - once you find a coffee you like which took us some time! So much nicer than instant.
The pots and pans from step gran sound brilliant for DS1; must have saved you an absolute fortune.
I really can't see the logic of not requiring students and staff to continue testing. How will they know if 10% or more of them test positive if they're not testing!!!

They have spent the last 18 months telling the kids they will be fine if they catch it, well those kids are now the 18-25 yr age group who they are trying to get to come forward for the jab. I think it is under 60% that have had the first jab.Johnson did say he did not care if the over 80s died, which must be worrying for Johnson Snr who is 81 (but as he is now officially French he might not count on the stats if he did fall off his perch). How will the Beeb cope without all that new over 80's licence fee revenue if they all pop-off?The 'new' news that secondary school reopening might be put back by a fortnight will not apply to us, I don't think, as they have provision for each year group to be tested Mon-Wed (not compulsory though) before they go in full time on a staggered return Wed/Thur/Fri ready for the 3 day weekend and then plunging straight back into it for September. So mine are all testing tonight as well, just to make certain. The PE kit all fits (phew!)
and finally, after six years of waiting, I do not have a child who cannot take a peanut butter sandwich to school!!! Nut free schools are a nightmare! Now, no doubt, he will claim he does not like peanut butter.
Anyway, it is another option and I would rather move away from the sausage rolls, and get them to make their own sandwich in the morning.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Even better if they can make their packed lunch the evening before then if they procrastinate you can just leave them to it and not feel the need to take over so they are not late for school.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I love the run up to xmas but find the day itself as stessful as hell. Often think about going out for lunch but then someone has to drive, DM prob could but her timekeeping is so bad I'm no sure anywhere would still be serving about 5pm when we eat and getting there on time would send my levels of anxiety stratospheric.

Bedrooms skipped out, all laundry put away (over 2 hours of folding on Sunday night - boring!) all bins emptied, made them put all their games (DS, PS4,Xb0x) in the right boxes- those without boxes are now my hostages, the council metal collection van came and took the mattress springs and bed frame away, binmen came, having a cuppa and then making lunch. One at school tomorrow. Two at 8.30 on Thurs, one at 11.30 on Thurs. Posted an item on local selling page - will see how that goes, hoovered the whole house, feel like it is the last day of the holidays, probably because it is the last day of the holidays
One back to school tomorrow, so will start getting up 2 hours earlier than I have for the last 6 weeks. I like getting up early, but I thought I would try something new. Not impressed with it to be honest, so I will stick with being an early bird.
